Resident Evil - Virgin Vampire Wine Mom vs Chad Magnetic Lebowski

What the hell is this though...?
I'm really not hyped for RE4 remake at all.
They look ridiculous.
It's not that they're ridiculous, it's that it's not ridiculous enough. Romantic doesn't look nearly as Baroque as it should and Casual is so generically 90s.

It's really weird how they basically put Ashley in a Burka but then at the same time upped Ada by two cup sizes.

It's like their ethics department is having a tug of war between coomers and sjws.

What's with that?
I guess is that whole power struggle idea like how they made dimitrescu with that design because she was a 8 feet tall super human and Ada is a special agent spy with many skills but ashley is your usual damsel in distress type but thats just what i think.

Being the body guard of the fucking President of the United States has it's perks, lets just say.

So do we like the Remake again or is it going to be soulless?
The demo was alright, but I think the problem I personally have with the series since 7 is that it clearly has way too much involvement from western people, it doesnt feel like the same series to me. Gameplay which is mostly the jp team is good, everything else feels a bit joyless, it also has the ugly texas chainsaw masacre look that I dont really like.

Iron Maiden is confirmed

It was in a model viewer with Japanese characters.

It is kinda soulless to be honest. It has some nice touches here and there (Leon speaks basic but fairly clean and understandable Spanish, for one.) Gameplay feels good but takes story takes itself a little bit too seriously.

The story looks like it's gonna be a cleaned up version for modern audiences. No senior moment here, no joking about Ramón's height, Ashley's not as fanservicey now, Leon's much more serious and not as fun which, I'm sure someone said before, just makes hit one liners seem really weird and out of place. Gameplay's very much Re2Make with some tweaks. Lure dodges are much easier to perform now, enemies are far more predictable, one really good addition is being able to have a point of reference, basically a dot where your crosshair would be when you aim which makes things much, much easier on your brain, but the rest is a little wonky. Controls are a little floaty and it just feels like Resident Souls. Parry's in a really weird place balance wise. Enemy about to grab you? Literally useless. Enemy has a specific weapon? Best you can seem to do is block, which isn't very good. Better than being hit, but not very good. Enemy about to swing a knife at you? Get out of jail free card that lets you instantly get a melee strike and fuck that dumbass for even trying to come close to Chad Leon.

Velcro tape your back to a wall with a shotgun and spam parries when in doubt and you're mostly gonna be fine. In all honestly that is true to how easy Re4 was on Normal. I'm sure a normie would panic and die a few times. Anyway, after having a big tizzy over how Mad Chainsaw was only ever accessible through random means, as soon as I got the code my brain clicked with it and I beat it in one seamless try. I got roughed up a bit, had to use two heals, but it's not as daunting as it may seem at first. I think it's just the mental thing where having to waste another 50 minutes of your life in the dumb New Game-Abandon Game loop until MC just happened was really putting a damper on the whole experience for me.

I really, really fucking hope they don't just go ahead and make the ridiculous bullet sponges in Mad Chainsaw just how enemies are in Re4's Hardcore mode. It's literally just Re2Make, except it's ironically a lot HARDER than Re2Make because your weapons either suck dick or ammo is outrageously scarce, and it's Re4's map. Four entire shots to the head to stun a fucker, and they don't stagger so you can kick them, just get stunned so you can scoot past. Most of the time you're well advised to just run like hell rather than try to take out any enemies at all. While it does make the game into a somewhat effective survival horror experience, it sucks absolutely all of the pew pew roundhouse kick fun out of the thing and forces you to play in a really, really dumb way where you just loop around the map taking potshots at the enemies you want killed before maybe parrying or lure dodging a dude on the way out and doing it all over again until completion. And the original Re4 WAS an effective survival horror without needing to turn into Dark Souls for it's Hard Mode.

I could not imagine the sheer amount of frustration in dealing with Ashley or even Luis' new more involved role where they are just definitely not equipped to handle this sort of opposition. I know Luis melees and much like in Resident Evil 5, in this mode, melee is just a really great way to kill yourself very quickly, which again, pure anti-fun.

Might be a nitpick to some, but I also don't like how Leon's Silver Ghost feels exactly like the MUP, RE3 and 4th Survivor's main handgun, and the in-joke at the Resistance community that the initials stood for Mostly Useless Pistol. I checked the description for it, and they even admitted it's basically a reskin. Thing fires waaaaayyyy too slow. I figure we're all gonna move on to one of the other three guns sooner rather than later, as if 99% of the players don't gravitate towards the Red9 anyway, but the original Silver Ghost was actually underrated. Few people even knew it increases your knife crit chance when you get it's special upgrade. It might not have been a sick boss killer like the Red9 was but by god, that gun could take out the trash like nobody's business. Now it just feels like the starter weapon you can't wait to get rid of. We'll see how the upgrades go.

TL;DR: Gameplay's fun unless Hardcore mode is like Mad Chainsaw Mode. Honestly, if it IS like that, all the time, and you literally can not even kick enemies once without getting instantly gangbanged and destroyed, I'd just skip the thing. I did expect fun shooty roundhouse kicky action and not another "Learn the strats until you git gud enough to get around enemies" experience like Re2Make was. Nothing wrong with Re2Make, it is a cool game, but I want Re4Make to be like Re4.

Also, in case anyone is interested, the code to play Mad Chainsaw Mode at your leisure is L1+R1 (Hold during the whole thing) Up Left Down Right Square Triangle Circle X X. Now, I've tried this code on Keyboard and wasn't able to get it to work: Hold Shift and Space and input W, A, S, D, R, I, E, F. I ended up doing it with the PS4 pad, and it does work.

Only the diehard consoomers will like the Remake for a week to a month before they forget about it and move on to another generic milk-toast flavor of the month. So my real answer is the latter, it's just yet another soulless cashgrab.

Soulless. So far, it doesn't seem to be an improved version of the original game (RE1 remake), nor some kind of reimagining (RE2/3 remakes). It is just the original but with surface modern shit and unlike the ps1 REs, RE4 still holds up surprisingly well.

Me either. They knew good and fucking well the thing that made the remake of 2 good and the remake of 3 okay was their authentic attempt at being survival horror. They knew the one thing we wanted was CV in the style of the 2 remake. It's not difficult to puzzle out. Instead they are remaking the one that began the CODniggerfication of the series because it sold well 20 years ago.

I'ma still buy it tho.

About what I expected. Of course all the normie coomers that thought 3make was "better" than the original will be eating this up next week.

REmake will never have a rival in terms of remakes in this series.

They were trying really hard to sell it to fans that they dumped everything into it. Of course, it's a fool me once scenario. The previous two remakes were a downward slope in quality so I expected this to be equal to but not better than either of those.

A lot of people liked it but I knew as soon as Leon knife blocked the chainsaw in the trailer I was like "this is likely going to be shit."

I'm taking off work to play it next week and my wife has seen me play the original dozens of times so we'll have all day with it and pull it apart piece by piece on what's wrong with it. Although even with these reactions I would wager it's probably as good as 2make so I'll probably get mileage out of it. But I don't even bother with 2make anymore. I did play it for a few months after consistently, but it felt like one of those things where I'm "trying" to like it more than I did and it didn't and never will happen. It's just "okay" and that's not good enough for a game that defined a lot of the 90s.

It was the right idea for the right game. Ps1 RE was beloved enough to get a remake, but flawed enough that said remake could surpass the original in every way. Re4 is beloved, but it's not nearly as flawed to be surpassed in any significant way. I'm starting to think of this remake more as an alternate version than a Remake, Redditors will cream over it tho.

That's an excellent way to describe it. It was 3D console gaming in it's infancy so it wasn't a high bar to clear, but even by today's standards I think REmake still is an excellent survival horror game compared to any game today. At the time, I remember the game being really really difficult and playing on hard was absurd to even think about. Although you can play it with the analog and it breaks the game, but on tank controls (intended playstyle) is very unforgiving. They took a cheesy horror game that scared a lot of children (like me at the time) and then made it adult without it bring cringe try hard shit. I remember being at a friend's house after it came out before I got it and watched the intro sequence (which still is awesome) of them finding the Bravo copter and getting attacked and being astounded by it.

2make had the potential to be great and replace the original, even with the OTS play scheme I'm sick of. Beyond doing a real B side, it needed a few gameplay elements fixed. Like not having the shooting feel completely like ass and the zombies being programmed better.

But yeah, all the faggots in the YT comments will suck this thing dry and how much better it was to the original. "CAPCOM DID IT AGAIN!"

I've been playing the original the last couple weeks once or twice a week and I think it still very much holds up. I have thousands of hours of play time and Professional Mode still isn't no joke on a new game and the Water Room can suck my dick. But I LIKE that even after all this time it's difficult. I can play 2make on Hardcore with my eyes closed. I can get to the lab a lot of the time with zero damage and I'm not even actively trying to do that.

And Mikami's quirks give it a heart and style all its own. Say what you want about some of the cheesy lines, ink ribbons, tank controls, or jiggle physics, they helped give the game its identity that no one else has captured since. And when it come to certain concepts like the Crimson Heads, that's just intelligent game design, when looking through the lense of survival horror. The step up in graphical quality from blocky PS1 to pre-rendered GC backgrounds is just as impressive as what we've seen from RE4 to RE4make, and the difference in time was just 6 years compared to 18. In addition, characters like Jill were treated far better in REmake than in RE3make. REmake Jill was a normal person who could break down AND keep going which was very endearing, whereas RE3make Jill was just turned into just another tough guy with tits (the west has been doing that to female characters for years). It must be repeated, CapCom has become too westernized.

Yeah, I'm watching videos and I mean...I guess it looks okay? Like it plays well I guess?

I still have no real desire to play this. I feel like if RE4 wasn't one of the most re-released games ever I'd probably be a bit more excited about it. It feels like I just replayed/rebought RE4 last year with the VR version FFS

They look ridiculous.
Best case scenario: Capcom is low key based for not hiding the original costumes behind DLC including Pop Star Ashley of course
Most likely scenario: ESG score is keeping us from seeing Ashley as we all want to see her and I'm prepared already to lose Ashley chastising Leon for looking up her skirt
Worst case scenario: Same as "Most Likely" but this time the mod community is so fucking coomed out they only bother to mod Ashley to have ridiculous Hentai sized tits

I'm going to play the shit out of it and am kind of excited as I have burnt myself out on RE4 after playing it to death over a decade ago and literally cannot force myself to play the original anymore so I'm happy to have a version I want to play again but I do agree that it's a game that didn't need a remake at all and everyone and their grandmother has played to death already.

The games they should remake in the series are ones like Code Veronica that deserve way better than what they got on their original release and also haven't been played by much of the newer audience.

Then again with how awful they treated RE3 Remake I suppose they'd just fuck up Code Veronica.
