File this under: holy fuckballs, I did not see this coming. But it makes sense considering the Toxie remake is releasing this year. Needless to say that it looks like the best Troma game. And yes, there's more than just the Toxic Crusaders games that came before it.

Obligatory:

The NES game isn't that bad. The boss battles are horseshit because of bad hit-detection and it does have the weird thing where hitting Select one-shots enemies but otherwise it's an okay game.

Toxic crusaders cartoon was like Captain Planet but not shit.

Didn't want to rain on the parade but there is something disconcerting. The publisher is Retroware. For those who don't know, Retroware is Screen Wave Media... Anyone who follows the James Rolfe thread shuddered just now.

So yeah, there's a potential for fuckery. But we don't know just yet because their history with publishing games hasn't been nearly as much of a shitshow as running the Angry Video Game Nerd series into the ground with a creator who checked out a long time ago.

They better not make it woke. I swear. They just ruined TMNT with it, please for the love of god let this stay pure. Leave my nostalgia ALONE.
How was it ruined? Shreders Revenge you mean? It seemed fine.

Toxic Crusader doing a comeback is random as fuck but I'm not opposed.

1: He was complaining about the butt-slam move April had in the game being removed and the sprite was changed.

2: The Toxie remake wrapped shooting back in 2021. I thought it was being released this year but I haven't found any recent news about it. The good news about the remake is that it's going to be a hard R-rating as opposed to a PG-13 that we all previously thought it was going to be. So the time is ripe for Toxie's 2nd cumming.

And to be fair to Screen Wave/Retroware, the other games they're publishing (aside from the AVGN ones) look really good:

Perhaps Screen Wave is looking to get into making games as opposed to wringing dry the last bits of money they can get from a burnt out James Rolfe?
