Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

I liked the mountain top idea.
Assuming you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then that wasn't their idea either. That's also from early Ralph concept art of Coruscant which they used to call Mt. Umate. Judging from a quick google search for the episode, it looks like they unceremoniously put the peak of the mountain in the middle of the restaurant plaza square instead of in an awesome temple citadel like the original because they just wanted to copy the scaled down design from Filoni Wars...

Where they just shoved the mountain in the middle of the manarai restaurant square where a floating gazebo is supposed to be and the restaurant itself is supposed to be below, effectively removing any spiritual significance.

Its a regular issue I have with Filoni milking McQuarrie concept art. Sure he uses it and recreates it but he doesn't bother to understand the intent and meaning behind said art.

So the chick that looks like Soji from Picard is going around clearing up people who know what Moff Gidieon was up to? All of this cloning stuff, just leaves a pit in my stomach that it's going to lead into the sequels and cloning Palpatine. The best COPE I can come up with is that there's no point to explore that here because there'll be no payoff. Why waste time doing background for shitty films when the main characters can't impact the outcome. I also don't think the Palp clone, Rey dad makes any sense at all with this and the timeline, but none of that makes sense anyway.
I sorta hate to tell you this, but Jon Favraeu and Furloni have already said several times that the ultimate goal of Blando is to introduce the First Order and ease people into the sequels.
You should've known this was coming since the first season when they made references to TLJ and season 3 started off with those ugly little aliens from Plan 9 Rise of Rey.

COPE is some nasty stuff and leads to hopium addiction.
The bad news just keeps rolling in for this shithouse company...

Imagine retconning George Lucas' official and completed sequel novels for Willow, only for your shit TV series to get cancelled one season in before it's even finished.
And nothing of value was lost. Not only was it idiotic to try to turn a beloved but niche story like Willow into the next GoT, but they thought replacing and dumbing down the original characters (AGAIN), completely ignoring pre-established history, replacing solid writing with hollow lgbtq allegories, and repeating all the same idiotic mistakes they made with Star Wars would somehow prove more successful with Willow. This should serve as a reminder to not put too much faith in DisLucasfilm's new Indy movie either.

For anyone who cares about Willow, doesn't have the attention span of a social media addict, and wants to read the actual sequels, go read the Shadow War Chronicles instead:

Yet everything he basically showed with the Prequels about modern America hit the bullseye. And his friendship with Obama and Clinton are superficial at best, when his politics are closer to that of Alex Jones. To the point where Jones IS a big fan of the Prequels because of that:

I prefer with the visuals

What? They made a Willow show? I don't remember them making one.

That film should have done better than it did. While people here will go, "no it's shit." I have found most people tended to think it was decent or quite enjoyed it.

The film should have been better.

- they leaned too hard on CGI that wasn't full ready yet. Give them then tech from 5 years forward and it'd have done better.
- Gender Studies already creeping in.
- Cringey Race Relations.

I didn't hate myself for watching it, but it was some wasted potential.

I loved the movie (the fact that the casting director had the entirety of HBO's Rome in his rolodex didn't hurt) right up until the denument, where he gets transported back (?) to Earth and everything stops making sense.
Yeah, too much that just didn't make sense or was poorly explained.

John Carter's biggest problem as a film was it tried to cram about 1.5 books worth into a film at once IMO. This is especially bad since the vast majority of people are not going to be familiar with the setting, so you can actually take the relatively short story and build up the setting, and its characters so you give a shit. Adding in Matai Shang and the Therns was a stupid move, since the audience ain't gonna know about that shit, and you have a lot of characters to build on already. Like no one but fans like me are going to know what the fuck a Jeddak is, who the Tharks are, and other shit. You need to establish that shit, especially for a franchise as niche as John Carter.

Also they spent way too much money making that film, and probably should've went smaller and smarter with the budget. That also did not help its finances. Wasting millions to make the evil city a Mortal Engines knock off with computers could've been saved and used for marketing or for practical effects.
This right here.

Maybe it's because that movie did not have anything recognizable from from the Final Fantasy franchise in it. Seriously, they could have named it anything else.
Honestly. I really scratched my head as to why this movie had "Final Fantasy" in its title despite having nothing to do with it. Hard sci-fi setting, no Chocobos, no Cid, no summons, fucking nothing.
There was a Cid. Donald Sutherland's character was Cid.
What you mean is no Airship, no summons.

How the fuck are these niggas going to do this knowing that Creamy Sheev raised an abundance of ships from the underground?

Their explanation is going to be inconsistent with the sequel trilogy regardless, because that is too much to juggle along with continuing the plot of Mando.

Naw, his name was Sid, not Cid.

-Rise of Skywalker is Dark Empire meets Twilight. With Palpatine coming back and unearthing new world-shattering weapons.
Don't forget about Jedi Prince with the reveal that Rey was Palpatine's granddaughter.
Did anyone else clap when they saw the Ralph Macquarie-inspired art come to life?

I didn't clap when it showed up in The Clone Wars 10 years ago.
I haven't seen s01 or 02 since they aired, but I don't remember them looking so cheap.
The compositing in the residential/amnesty areas of Coruscant felt a bit off though I'll grant you that.
For me the most iffy shot was in episode 5 of BoBF when Mando was on the outer-underside of the ring and there's one shot where the compositing looked really bad, but it was only just that shot I had an issue with.

Photon fizzle was mentioned in the last Mando episode, which means the Droids cartoon from the 80s is still fucking canon.

Give me my live action White White speeder chase and Fromm gang.
Speaking of references, the Rise of the Resistance theme was playing during that scene. It's in a circus kind of key so it flew right over my head initially.

That was back when the Star Wars action figures came with MOTHERFUCKING COINS. I don't remember if the actual Droids figures came with coins or just the Power of the Force last-gasp 1985 run (Anakin Skywalker, etc.).

My dude, if you wanna see what a REAL pack-in bonus for an action figure looks like, I can still remember back when they used to do those Star Wars Dark Horse Two-Packs, where you'd get a two-pack of action figures from the comics packed in with the issue of the comic series featuring the storyline or scenario they were from.

Just...think about that. This was the time when the Dark Horse comics were unstoppable, so to get a comic packed in and see the badass feats accomplished by the character whose action figure you just bought, it made playing out the scenes with those figures all that much cooler.

That was a fantastic deal if you were a kid short on allowance back in the day. That, and that killer Star Wars "Best of PC" Collection they sold for 30 Bucks back then.

Ah, man. Remember when this brand used to be worth spending money on, and was the titan of your local toy or game aisle? Seems like an eternity ago.

I am seeing a lot of stuff about this being about the sequels. The First Order is trending on Twitter. What seems like shill accounts are apparently really excited about the show leading into it. Firstly, I don't believe there can be any movement of people actually excited for that. Secondly, it would be shocking of they would actually attach that dead weight to the TV shows. Why waste time placing breadcrumbs and back story. When it can never be payed off in the TV shows. If it is all prequels leading up, the ending and pay off is shit house.

The stories in the sequels are so dumb. The First Order ends up being a puppet of Sith Occultists or some shit. That's a twist. Where the fuck would any of that play into setting up The First Order in Mando?

I just don't see why the fuck they would waste time setting up plotlines that will never pay off in the show. Say Doctor clone guy was killed because he was helping to clone Palpatine or Snoke. What a pointless waste of time.

On the First Order, one thing I keep going back to is, "were they even defeated in TROS? Didn't they just defeat the Sith Eternal fleet, but The First Order who controlled the galaxy and apparently didn't know about the Sith Occultists still controlling the galaxy?"

I didn't clap when it showed up in The Clone Wars 10 years ago.

Sorry, I didn't watch that.

The first order were exiled to a mystery box.

Secondly, it would be shocking of they would actually attach that dead weight to the TV shows.
It would be shocking if they continued to include and explore the content that the creators have been very open and obvious about including? As a wise and wide Sith Lord once said: A blind, deaf, comatose, lobotomy patient could see this coming.

It'll be interesting to see the imploding of this.

I wonder what part the bullshit YouTubers and others that like to spread stories of the wars with in Lucasfilm actually play in supporting this stuff. They present the idea there's hope. That KK will be out. That there's a pretence that this stuff will ignore the sequels. So people can just go, "they're just saying it'll connect, but it won't, KK will be cone soon. All will be right."

That would be fascinating. If Lucasfilm wasn't so incompetent. It would be easy to believe it was all PR.

Pour one out for the few people who actually gave a shit. It's not the 80's anymore, you can't expect gold from franchises this dated.
just like no one gave a shit about guardians of the galaxy...

it could've worked great, write it in a way that can stand on it's own (throw in some references/easter eggs for the OG fans) and it should be fine. however that requires actual writing talent, so there was never a real chance for that.

it doesn't have to make sense, it just needs to reference back so seals can clap "I get that reference I'm such a nerd XD".

I just don't see why the fuck they would waste time setting up plotlines that will never pay off in the show.
Where do you think we are.jpg

Fair point. We are in a post-LOTR world, though. Post-Hobbit trilogy, specifically. I have to wonder if people weren't just wary of fantasy jaunts at the time.

Disney doesn't care if the stories aren't paid off in Mando itself, all they want is a bridge that normies can point to and say "see?? They made it work!".
