I use the addon Sponsor block because of things like this. For anyone that doesn't know it skips over sponsors, filler, ect. It also shows the new play time with out things skipped over, as you can see it cuts off more then a minute. Green is for sponsors. He really is plugging that isn't he.

In all honesty I feel like this was a one-time experiment and since he got such backlash he won't do this shit a second time. I honestly found it rather hilarious.

A bigger problem IMO is that some of the stories in this video sound like they're recycled. Like I literally think I've heard these exact stories before, except the details were different. EDIT: Just for an example, listen to the very first story in his more recent video, then listen to this older video. The new video's story about the abandoned bunker also sounds like retread. I swear the people submitting stories now are just taking stories from older Mr. Nightmare videos and slightly re-wording them.

Mr Nightmare is probably the worst case of content drop-off I've experienced in this sector. He went from having some great, albeit nearly mundane stories about psychopaths on craigslist showing up with a pistol to entertaining ghosts and goblin tales.

I get that he just rips things off his subreddit without much quality control, but he's went from highly binge-able background narration to instant avoidance.

Man I remember when he used to showcase horrifying deaths and Craigslist ads. Absolute bollocks that YouTube wouldn't even allow you to show even a glimpse at a weapon, let alone footage of freak accidents happening without getting BALeted. Now it's all r/nosleep stories and ad sponsors to keep the lights running and playing it safe. I still remember one scene he showed where an actress on a film set got mogged by a train and another where two guys where in a ball atop a mountain theme park and they rolled a bit too far off leaving one of them dead and another in a concussion.

I would love to see Internet Investigator and Hannah stuck alone in a quarantine zone. The resulting circlejerk of moralfagging edgy fetish review content would be amazing and the inability to say triggering, ad-unfriendly words and phrases while only discussing triggering, ad-unfriendly topics could devolve the whole conversation into a brand new shorthand language.

It's getting harder and harder to find decent true crime channels or content. At this point most of it is in podcast form and not on youtube.

Idk if it's the pitch and timbre of his voice or the cadence with which he speaks but I agree, it feels like his videos are always twice as long as their actual running time for me. I usually put him on 1.25x, 1.5x when I'm really annoyed.

I can see that plus he has a Brit accent so that ruins some of his content to me by default. I know that's me being a total autist but Brit accents piss me off idk why.

So in my ongoing Mario Nights autism investigation, I noticed there was a part starting around 8 seconds in that sounded like another audio track being played back reversed and when I went ahead to reverse that part I realized... It kinda bops?

It makes me think this part was either ripped or transcribed from somewhere else given that it sounds tonally different from the other two tracks that Mario Nights had (The base Title Screen music and the Wormthing level music).

Anyways I wanted to post some cleanup work on the audio itself. Thank god for Ultimate Vocal Remover 5 for doing most of the heavy lifting.

We've got Mario's scream + Eeyagh's laugh here:

Fun fact: A part of Mario's scream is reversed to extend the sound effect for some reason

(notice the little two similar bumps in frequencies from the far left and right)

Then we have Wormthing's scream at the end:

I swear I feel like I've heard this scream from somewhere before, like from a zelda game perhaps?

Next up we've got the Title Screen track. Tried to remedy and fix up some of the empty gaps in frequencies left by UVR5 when extracting the vocals using Izotope RX.

And finally the Wormthing level. Not much to say other than leaving the empty gap of where Wormthing's scream should be since I didn't think it was really worth it to try and patch it up there.

And that's pretty much it for now. I'll go ahead and leave a zipped file of just the two tracks outputted from UVR5 from before I did any editing or fixing work just for archival purposes, as well as leaving the .webm audio file from when I downloaded it with yt-dlp. (If you want to convert it to .wav, just use ffmpeg and use the command ffmpeg -i filename.webm filename.wav)

EDIT: Normalized both tracks and made some adjustments to the Worm level music that attempts to get rid of any background noise + clicks

I believe you are, and I think your discovery on the title is accurate too.

When I took that section of the Sonic 2 level into audacity, reversed it and slowed it down it's pretty much a dead-ringer.

However, Dreading has been pretty chill about the whole thing. Yeah it was I couldn’t finish it. Like I said Dire Trip covered the story in less than a half hour so why would someone even want to watch Dreading’s version in the first place?
