I actually don't think this is abhorrent at all.
If you were Rick's ex-wife, would you want him childing you as you tried to co-parent? Would you want to chase his ass down for child support, when he won't even pay Quasi? Would you want him showing up late for visitation cause he was false-flagging himself? Would you want his SFWA chud buds to have access to your child? Or would you just want him peacefully out of the picture so you could get on with your life?
I'm actually kind of impressed that Pat terminated parental rights instead of letting his insane need to always have the last word create decades of baby mama drama.

It’s undoubtedly for the best for the child and the ex but it’s not like Pat did it out of selflessness. From what I’ve read on OnA, the ex and her second, much better husband tried to work it out with him but Pat threw a shitfit when they wouldn’t accede to all demands. Terminating rights was the method he chose to get the last word!!

And the judge likely signed off on it when his ex-wife and Jon presented documentation of extreme threats and unhinged stalking. I've thought that all along, and it's a virtual certainty now that evidence has come out of at least one of his threatening rants, and subsequent arrest. I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'd bet anything he'd drive by her work or park outside her home and sit there, probably gorging on fast food.
