I must reiterate: before Trump posted in all caps about this, last Friday on NBC nightly news you had Lester Holt smugly saying "Law enforcement preparing to arrest Donald Trump ahead of a possible indictment next Tuesday"

So if Trump made it up then so did they.

My shitty boomer assessment: Ron was looking squeaky clean outside of supporting Israel prior to this. Now Trump can ask why Desantis didn't help a legal citizen of Florida when a blue state wanted to extradite & throw the book at him. It would be easy to spin the narrative that Trump didn't commit the crime (the arrest is in regards to the Stormy Daniels case that was thrown out ages ago) yet despite this Desantis sat on his hands. Why? Is he afraid of Trump running against him? Is he afraid of supporting Trump or Trump-aligned people? Is he just a weak sister? If Desantis wouldn't help a billionaire then would he really help you? Whether you buy any of those questions or not they still sow doubt (mostly because there's no real diehard Desantis fans yet.) Ron can't coast by on being a common sense red state governor now, he's obliged to respond (especially if Trump hammers this line of attack home) & regain favor with people who may now question how useful he'd really be when people are relying on him to make a decision.

I think the biggest problem I have with Desantis (that's unique to Desantis) is how popular he is on r/conservative. Obviously Reddit is comped so when I see the bot farm slowly shift from supporting Trump to denouncing Trump while feverously supporting Ron I start to suspect something is up. What debate? DeSantis doesn't even like interacting with journalists that might be unfriendly towards him, it's even gotten a guy fired from Right Side Broadcasting the other day because he voiced criticism of DeSantis.

MAGA people are hating DeSantis now because unlike every other major Republican, he made the stupid move of taking a potshot at Trump during this scandal and didn't bother saying something about how he'd try doing something as governor (even if he can't). It was a stupid mistake for DeSantis to not read the room and realize he needed to sound supportive the way 99% of Republican politicians realized they needed to. Since he was being marketed as Trump-lite, he especially would have been expected to come out denouncing something like a DA acting nuts like this.
