Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Those two CD-I Zelda games aren't that bad.

Yes, those cut scene are infamous at how bad the animation/acting is, bit for the time fully animated cut scenes like that were relatively groundbreaking.

The actual game play is pretty standard platforming, and while really hard at times is still kinda fun.
I pretty much also say the same with Hotel Mario. It's not a bad game all things considered, even outside its equally as notoriously animated cheesy cutscenes that also happen to be popular YTP memes.

You don't have to dodge roll all the time, you can also use a shield. It works well until the game decide the boss can break your guard and empties your entire stamina gauge in one hit. How dare you hold a button like a peasant instead of learning le difficult timing like a boss?
You can also hit the boss. Except when the game decides your hits don't connect.

What a challenge.

It's odd that you'd bring that up, since I struggle to think of a series that's MORE fair and consistent when it comes to hits connecting than the Dark Souls series. It's obviously not perfect (no game is), but that's always seemed like one of its big strengths.

Destiny 2 has the worst "community" ever. They are so hellbent on shilling carries/recovs or dicking around with their IRL friends that they wont ever give any pointers or even a "git gud" before you are REMOVED FROM FIRETEAM without warning or a chance to say anything regardless of your skill level.

Then there's the issue of cheaters controlling not only trials but any discussion of cheating that will be quickly censored, buried, and banned within moments of talking about anything relevant like the DDOSers and other cheaters being so atrociously bad that bungo had to implement sunsetting of pinnacle weapons with a smoke screen to hide the fact law enforcement knocked on their door telling them to do something about it.

Then there's always some smartass with a gaslighting or invalidating quip no matter what benign thing you say. Hell you can learn to empathize with mass shooters because of the playerbase behind that game being just that bad. Yes there are other playerbases just as bad and there's always some good people scattered in like needles in a haystack, but you can at least play the game without these cliquish antisocial assholes being as prevalent as they are in Destiny where entire game modes are literally unplayable because of them.

>Inb4 some reddit larp of "OMG I MET MY BEST FRIEND, WIFE, PETS, etc ON DESTINY, ITS THE BEST THING THATS EVER HAPPENED TO MEEEE!" by some bot.
Yea I don't blame people for being toxic.

Recently got into Paladins, and the quality of matches at first was amazing; people cooperated, they were organized, etc.

Then the calibration period ended and I was placed with literal retards. The quality is noticable.

So fuck you for ruining the quality of my games by refusing to play properly in ranked. You deserve the hate. Fuck you.

It's not a huge problem. But I did notice it. It's just that the Souls fan base is seriously stuck up its own ass about how challenging and hardcore the games are. It's also funny to seem them have fucking meltdowns whenever anyone suggests adding a difficulty selection to the game. You know, like other games have.
I have heard all the "git gud" shit before.
The water in Super Mario Sunshine is still the most realistic water ever replicated in video games
It's a pretty nice looking games. I have it on the Switch. But Nintendo games were usually pretty colorful and nice looking.

That's why you don't play multiplayer and stick to single player. I used to play some multiplayer games but not so much anymore. Though recently I wanted to see if anyone was still playing Battlefield 3 and 4 still. I imagine with the state of the new BF games they still are.

What do you think of the art style?

The anime portraits were kind of gay not going to lie but the gameplay itself had an excellent art direction, especially for a handheld title. The different worlds you could go to also meant a lot of variety instead of just the castle.

Like Divinity Original Sin 2 is a huge mess of several different spell lists categories, skills, and stats that you can customize in a bajillion different ways with a bunch of weird environmental shit like transporting lava from one end of a 10-15 walk map to the other end solely using a specific spell. Because lava one shots if something touches it, if you can get an enemy to move into the lava it just instantly dies. So if you can find lava you can terrian transmute the lava wherever you'd like to just drag it with you if you're patient enough.
All I really remember of DOS2 is that in the last quarter of the game, every single fight was either a huge field of tentacle acid or tentacle fire. It was really visually boring and annoying to play. Bad game overall.

Looking Glass Studios made awesome games and mechanics, but they almost always break down and become complete slogs to play at the end. It's very obvious that the people at the studio were dreamers and designers, but my god they couldn't finish a project on a high note if their lives depended on it.

From System Shock to Thief, they could do all this cool shit and then completely fall apart half-way or 3/4ths through a game and ruin the experience. Case in point, Thief 1: Lord Baffords Manor is awesome. Taking down the Trickster at the end is fucking lame. SS2: Everything up to Ops is great. Then the Body of the Many and Shodans """boss""" fight are insultingly bad.

Also System Shock 2 was ruined by its horseshit RPG mechanics that didn't need to be there, how the fuck does a marine need to upgrade himself to use a simple fucking assault rifle?

The best parts of those two games however are the soundtracks:

(Sorry, can't embed playlists)

They're pretty techno, and always got me pumped.

As for the 3rd one Zelda's Adventure, that game look like a total borefest with none of the personality or charm of the first two.

Instead of a side scrolling view it's top down, and instead of cool animated cut scenes you mostly get bland, boring voice acting over regular game play.
Here are the few live action cut scenes compiled into a video:

Mostly boring static shots.

Game play looks really boring too. Can't really say for myself though, since I didn't have this one as a kid and the price for used discs was always outrageous.

Here's a taste, though:
Played a fan recreation of Faces of Evil a year ago that's incredibly faithful and it wasn't a bad experience at all. Granted one of the few QoL features added was an optional infinite lives mode which made it tolerable since the screens are pretty short. Obviously everything is jank from the hit detection to the platforming, but if you take the lives system out of the equation then it's a briskly paced game that doesn't overstay its welcome

I'll also second the opinion that the OST is a banger, it doesn't suit Zelda at all but it's legitimately great

I'll only 50% disagree with you; as the water on the title screen of that one Riddick game was absolutely beautiful... ... ... but it's all pre-rendered and nowhere else in the game. Mario Sunshine actually had interactable water.
