There is no 'Ron Desantis' faction. He made a few appearances, fairly quiet and small political events, and robocalls for candidates, but had no PAC or anything beyond that. His endorsements probably changed no votes. He mostly endorsed the same candidates as Trump in a me-too fashion - Kari Lake, among others. The only ones who he endorsed that Trump didn't (those 'boring Republicans') were losers like Joe O'Dea who Trump said nothing about until O'Dea started taking unnecessary potshots at him. 'Boring' O'Dea went on to lose by 15%.

Why wasn't there a red wave? A couple of reasons - the GOP flipped many seats in 2020 they would have gotten in 2022 already, plus they were fucked over by court imposed congressional maps in 2 key states - OH and NC, which probably cost them at least 4 seats. Republicans also had a tough senate map this year, in addition to the fact that historically, incumbent presidents havent always lost senate seats from their party, and sometimes even gain (see: 1970 midterms, 2018 midterms).

I am skeptical that Trump could win at this point and there are plenty of good reasons to want other candidates, but DeSantis fanboys give him credit for all kinds of things he had jack shit to do with.
