Breaking News regarding the aftermath of Operation Bolivar!
PACIFICA, NEW HIBERNIA
JUNE 30, 2016
The extradition of former Australatinese dictator Phillip Haskins-DeLici to the International Criminal Court has been delayed following an order by the New Hibernian Court of Justice. Citing concern for the deposed leader's mental state, Chief Justice Bronson Fortner said "Mr. DeLici does not appear to be competent enough to stand trial. He is delusional, convinced that he is still in power. Just yesterday he tried to order a commando strike on Pacifica."
Even more troubling, DeLici seems to have forgotten where his country is. "He announced that he was annexing Newfoundland. I kept trying to remind him that, no, Australatina is in Central America, right next to New Hibernia, and not some kind of superstate that took up the eastern seaboard of North America", said Dr. Carmen Chung, head of the Temple Grandin Asylum in Pacifica. "He just didn't listen and kept ranting about how racist the people from Newfoundland were, and how glad he was to re-educate them. He also kept calling us 'right-wing, revisionist, capitalist roaders' and 'cis white men', even though we are a socialist democracy and I am a black woman"
DeLici was recently placed under arrest in the asylum while doctors treat his mental illness. No diagnosis has been clear, but Chung speculates that he may have several disorders. "Off the top of my head, he shows signs of autism, bipolar depression, and several personality disorders."
The decision to delay the final judgement of DeLici, who was overthrown by UN peacekeeping operation last month, has divided the peoples of New Hibernia and Australatina. While some have demanded that the toppled tyrant be turned over to an international tribunal ("Who cares the reasons why he's crazy", said one resident of Regina, "we already know he's a murderous psycho!"), others have praised the decision as showing the humane nature of the New Hibernian government.
When pressed for a comment, New Hibernian president Adam Chatoyer replied "We need to decide the best course of action for a bright future for both nations. I expect a final decision within the coming weeks"
