If you shut off 301-302 redirect records on the internet at large, a surprising amount of shit would just break completely. So many APIs that started as something like amazonapi.net/niggerfucker get renamed later and nobody changes the code that uses it because it has a redirect or alias.

And if you finally remove it, everything breaks hilariously

Everyone at my company openly lol'd at this retardation (gitlab made this switch as well) and deliberately set our "new repo" defaults and local client defaults to explicitly use "master" so this kind of stupid shit doesn't screw with our workflows. Change for change's sake is stupid and pointless at best, spectacularly destructive at worst (as seen here).

Although I am further compelled to laugh at the fact that these dipshits didn't pin their setup to a specific known-working version and relied on "master" always being a valid name. I trust this reinforces the principle that any resume coming across your desk that shows past (or current) employment at reddit should go straight into the shredder.

first, scientific and engineering professions all use metric units, and redditors are big I Fucking Love Science! types, so they worship metric units

Found out that the r/massachusetts subreddit was being managed by a new mod, Linux-is-great/Linux-is-best/whatever alts he made beforehand, and they were a complete lunatic tranny janny who went power-tripping and deleting/banning anything that didn't show full support for his politics. It very much is, for someone with ten years of experience. Even now, you can theoretically get that much with less than half that experience.

Some context: he's describing a $65/hr contract role, meaning he's almost certainly not getting any typical benefits like health/dental/vision. And the position is only going to last six months, if he didn't omit "possibility of conversion to full time". He's describing a rigorous interview process (even in the best of times) for a position that only ensures a very brief period of financial stability.

It's also an interview process you'd go through for a direct hire to a full time, in part because the convolution of such a process is so that the client and prospective development team can get a feel of you and chip in about how they feel you'd fit in, skills and temperament-wise.

If he could manage a decade of experience, I'm willing to say that his current plight is abnormal and "beneath him"... under normal circumstances, at least.
