I remember watching Star Trek Next Gen, Voyager and DS9 a lot with my dad and changing the channel or going off to do something else if an episode of DS9 came on and it was one of the many "muh blackness" or a Voyager "muh Nativeness" episodes. Weird stuff to be in a show that IIRC had a main source of humor in the form of a blonde, no-nonsense security chief who is sick of the space jews and their gold-pressed latinum shit. I'm also pretty sure that have confirmed that the Native American character was played by a Mexican as well.


South Park was already getting cringy, boring and dumb before PC Principal, but the show just became painfully unwatchable at that point. I remember being exceedingly uncomfortable about it just getting too real with no humor to temper it. Now I hear it's become what it used to call out and mock.

D&D used to have racial perks and quirks like orcs (niggers) getting a strength boost and a penalty to charisma when not rolling for intimidation. Elder Scrolls used to lean into that stuff more too, I hear. But luckily with both types of games, anyone can just house rule on it or run mods for offline games.

This is on me for watching cartoons made for "kids" i.e; 20-year olds from Portland but I'm getting real sick of all the characters having trauma and/or dealing with trauma like adults who went to therapy. Little bits of it organically woven into a story isn't bad, like in that new Puss In Boots movie, but shit where it's like...oh my goddd we spent 3 minutes of an 11 minute episode having characters cry and freak out before doing anything (lookin' at you, Steven Universe Future), that's just too much.

It makes me miss shit like the Powerpuff Girls, where you had the literal kindergartener main characters commit savage brutal war crime shit constantly and thought it was FUNNY. I don't need straight-up violence, but goddamn can characters stop being so traumatized all the time??? That is literally what they do. They cannot create anything original, or if they can it is all complete and total garbage because people, even normies, can see it is "political message first quality maybe third". So they take a already popular franchise and instead make it into a vessel to be used as a delivery system for their creations, applying a "skin-suit" of the popular IP they have infected to their actual creations.

They then wear it down, constantly using it to belittle the fans and push their bullshit. If you don't like it then they claim you are not a real fan and just a racist/misogynist/bigot/homophobe/fascist and what else.

See: Ghostbusters 2016, Disney Star Wars, STD and STPiccard and so on and so forth. And of course these are at least paying some pretend at being the original IP, you have even worst cases where if it wasn't for the name you wouldn't even know it was supposed to be related like the case of the comic book about Starfire's daughter who was a fat and short dyke who looks suspiciously like the author of the comic, or the Velma show that has no Scooby Doo at all.

The point isn't to create media. It is to proselytize and force you to conform to The Message. It is to push you into being a political actor as to achieve The Revolution with the application of Gramci's "the personal is political". It is simply a display of power.

I genuinely enjoyed the Harry Potter books. I read them as they came out when I was in middle school and high school. I wasn't one of the dorks in line at release day once the series got popular but I was usually at Barnes & Noble within the next couple of days, as soon as the line cleared, excitedly buying my copy of the new book. I enjoyed the movies too, though in a different way from the books. it was something I did with my parents, too; my dad liked the books and read them after me, and both my parents enjoyed the movies, and we all went together. I have fond memories of the series, and I imagine if I re-read the books today I would still enjoy them. but now that HAIRY PO'AH has become a mainstay of MSM libs and twitter justice warriors, and JK Rowling has now become TERF mommy, there are now Acceptable Opinions that have been hashed out such as the following: "harry potter is gay but JK is cool" or "HARRY POTTER WAS AMAZING AND JK'S TRANSPHOBIA BREAKS MY HEART" etc. because the political lines are drawn now I rarely if ever see anybody brave enough to say they honestly liked the books and/or the movies regardless of whatever political bullshit is happening now, fifteen years after the last book was published. Technically it was about teen suicide. But due to them having to re-edit the video's climax to get around MTV censorship issues about guns and a poorly put together freeze frame ending of the classmates covered in blood, it looked like he shot his classmates instead.

Which in turn caused Vedder to get pissy and refuse to make videos again until "Do the Evolution" and that was largely because the band's label forced them to make it due to the fact that alt rock was on the way out and Vedder had to play ball with the mainstream to avoid getting dropped (see also him being forced to let the label market a throwaway cover of "Last Kiss" as a single).

It's probably already been said many times before (in this thread), but Bojack Horseman's abortion episode killed the whole series for me. It was so wildly out of place and bad that it was almost hysterical, and broke my immersion for the entire rest of the show. It genuinely felt like the entire writing team went on holiday and the substitutes were all first-year college students who were perpetually high on weed, and all they could think about was sex and politics. The lead-in to it in the episode prior was so absurd that I thought it was parody, so when the abortion episode came on and made sure I knew it wasn't I just sat there slack-jawed in disbelief for something like 20 minutes or however long it and the next episode lasted for. It probably didn't help that I always found Diane really annoying and needy and dreaded her coming on-screen, so focusing the entire episode on her was already guaranteed to turn me off. Not to mention the episode is titled Brrap Brap Pew Pew. It didn't feel real.

It's been years since I watched the whole series. Still haven't rewatched since. I remember the show having some other good episodes- that dialogueless one under the sea was the best, and the lobotomy episode gave me nightmares for a solid week straight because I decided to watch it at 12am with the lights off, but I can't remember anything else because I was caught so off-guard by the aforementioned episode. All that comes to mind for other episodes that I remember is the one about Mabel from Gravity Falls dying, or the lengthy funeral talk.
I've heard the series is actually great, and i've been considering rewatching it, but that episode was just so outstandingly bad. Is it worth rewatching if I just skip it and the episode prior?

It's been ages since I've watched Bojack; but wasn't the abortion episode where Diana was running a dolphin pop star's Twitter account and accidentally got accounts mixed up and posted she was getting an abortion on her employer's twitter stream? And the dolphin had to rush out a cringy as fuck pop song about abortion being great to cover up the fuck-up by claiming she wasn't actually getting an abortion, but teasing her pro-abortion single?

The whole not!Bill Cosby storyline was annoying too. At the time, there WASN'T substantial evidence against Bill Cosby, and yet this show treated anyone who disagreed with the media's castigation of him as complete misogynist fools. Yeah, Bill Cosby turned out to be guilty, but at the time, we didn't know that. "Believe all women" is a fucking cancer.

The sad thing is that if the show wanted to rebuke Weinstein, they could have just brought back Not-Cosby and used him as the big bad instead of going nuclear on Bojack.

Not-Cosby rapes Diane, Bojack and company try and bring him down. Not Cosby finds out about the incident where Bojack tried to fuck his ex's jailbait daughter and tries to blackmail Bojack over it, but he basically doesn't care and not-Cosby is brought down at the expense of Bojack's shit becoming public knowledge. Show ends with Bojack's career/reputation in tatters but with the implication he might still recover but everyone around him having to sort of keep a distance from him.
