Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

@Ghostse Yeah, but were those hard penetration kills from the front or mobility/disabling kills?

I mean, a kill is a kill ultimately, and I don't disbelieve you.
I'll have to see if I can get more information. Mostly in a lot of "Highway of Death"/"73 Easting" documentaries, they will have some armor guy talking about the bradleys and not even needing to wait for Daddy Abrams if it was less than a T-72, especially after the opening days when they realized that even the battle hardened Republican Guard just didn't have the equipment to take on the allies and they'd been given too much credit.

One of the better 73 easting docs (from when the History channel was worth a damn IIRC) one of bradley gunners was talking about being parked almost ontop of a hull-down T-72 and at point-blank the rounds pinging off the turret, so I don't think it'd work against a T-72 but a T-62/T-55 I'll believe.

And of course Desert Storm omits out a key part of the battle in Ukraine: In Iraq, it was just a sudden and constant retreat for the Iraqis - a mobility kill, or even a mission kill, was a total kill. In Ukraine both sides are recovering damaged tanks. So even if a bradley can soup the crew of a T-55 through the front armor, it'll probably be in recoverable condition and back with a new crew in a couple days.

That really depends. The leo is meant to be used in a high speed manoeuvre war, where the T55 more of a conventional heavy-armoured beastie. If the ukranians try and use the leo the same way they'd use a contemporary Russian tank, then of course it won't last long. The T55, by contrast, is meant to operate in a more conventional way, but is vulnerable to the higher velocity shells the leo fires.

With that out of the way, I'm now legally obliged to remind everyone that the Leopard 1 is the wonderweapon that will be leading the victory parades through the streets of moscow in six weeks, because I am a good friend of the great nation of Ukrael and the CIA.
I think the 1A5 is roughly equivalent to the T-55 in terms of protection. Of course, the L7A3 the Leopard mounts is so far beyond the T-55's 100mm it isn't funny. That D-10T is a WW2 cannon, and even with more modern rounds its performance is to put it bluntly, inadequate for the modern battlefield. There's a reason everyone on remotely good terms with the West (say, even Egypt) swaps out the original cannon on the T-55 for the L7.
But who's going to give Russians an old US prototype?
Christ, a T32 would probably clean up against the T-55's pretty damn well. Power to weight ratio is actually better compared to early T-55's, the armor is better, the crew has room to operate, its got an automatic transmission... Of course, if we make things "fair" and give it US 1970's optics that's the laser rangefinder and second-gen night vision from the M60A1. If you want to really cheat you can shove the AVDS-1790 in there and trade 20 horsepower for 190 more pound-feet of torque. Top speed and range are a fair bit worse on account of weighing 20 metric tons extra, but considering you can go hull down thanks to having actual gun depression and excellent crew visibility...

If Russia is indeed preparing to put T-55s into combat, it strongly suggests they think the hohols are gonna be attacking

T-55s out in the open on the move would get slaughtered, they'd do better in prepared positions they can move in cover from one position to another as needed

Remember that crazy trench combat video where one Ukrainian soldier and his ammo supplier took on a Russian assault team?

Well he just did an interview where he shows the 20 min unedited footage. There was speculation that he took out a BMP with a RPG, and the new footage proves that he did.

Edit: The video just went private. I will edit this post when the video is reuploaded.
Edit2: Video Reuploaded.

CodePink, a progressive, social justice, feminist org protested Blinken on "Putin never called me a racist, why not try peace with Putin". It did go very well

Chen Weihua famed China warrior praised them for their anti-imperialistic prowess and courageously telling the American invaders in Donbas and Crimea to stop killing Ukrainians.

Talking about propaganda, did any of you listen to Glenn Greenwald lately? Dude has a podcast on Rumble and Spotify. About 3-4 out of 5 are heavily droning on Ukraine. His sentences are basically identical to what Maria Zakharova would say in one of the non-PMS days.
Some example, Nuland, Nuland, Nuland, like 50 times/podcast, muh non-democratic state, 50 times/podcast, muh "non vital to US interest but vital to Moscow", about 20 times etc.
Obviously the only reason the war exists is the US, who commands the whole thing and forbids the Ukrainians to make peace. It's like there are thousands of US soldiers that are shooting every peaceful Ukrainian in the head if they run from the frontlines. Of course Ukrainians don't wanna fight and don't really matter either.
He seems to desire some sort of red-brown alliance of the populist left/right against the US establishment. Of course he has no alternative vision or policy. He just want the US to no longer exist in its current form.
Reaction to his content seems very positive outside getting shit on by NAFOtards on twitter.
Too long to clip and upload.

Can you faggots please learn to archive shit instead of just shuffling around screenshots

At this point they are basically being used as ridiculously wasteful type of rocket artillery with their 45 degree "fire into the sky and hope it hits something somewhere" tactics. Ukraine does that too, but for different reasons. That reason being, that they have like 5 attack helicopters.
Yeah, Ukraine has a bit more than that, but only a small single-digit number are actual Mi-24 "Hind" gunships, and even then Ukraine is using the basic-bitch 80's model while the Mi-24/25/"35" in Russian service are at least post-2000 upgrades. Ukraine has also posted footage of Mi-2s and Mi-8s with rockets strapped to the side doing the same thing.

Russia has Ka-52, along with a few Mi-28, attack helicopters which CAN and SHOULD BE picking off tanks, IFVs and other key combat targets from a stand-off distance outside the enemy's AA point-defense using guided missiles (much like the loser tranny amerikkkan fail army AH-64 Apaches did to the victorious undefeaten Iraqi Republican Guard units), but instead are doing the same shit with unguided rockets.

Ukraine gets a pass because Ukraine is the smaller, weaker nation being invaded.
Russia fucking touts itself a global superpower then finds itself having to the same shit as the underdog.
Hey hey WHOA reign in those horses chief. That's just uncalled for, going after their tactics when clearly the biggest failing is training.
Flying into the teeth of air defenses at Hostomel and then flying back out the same fucking route isn't a training thing.

You put any helicopter (or any aircraft, really) and any pilot with any amount of training into that fuck-fuck scenario, and the end result is gonna be high casualties.

I am definitely eating my words with ketchup. Russia actually IS bringing WW2 era tanks out of mothballs and has been visually confirmed to be moving them toward the combat zone. I really truly thought that was the easiest $200 I'd ever win in a bet, and here I am.
If you had told me in 2021 that Russia would invade Ukraine, and still be fighting a year later having lost 2,000 tanks and 100,000+ troops I would have thought you were insane. If you had told me it would also look alot like World War 1 with Drones and I would ask you to recommend the book you got that story out of.

I think the entire through line of this war is nobody saw it going the way it did. I bet the Ukrainians are just as surprised at how well they did as everyone else.

Now with so much NATO standard equipment flooding in I can't wait to see what 2023 brings, and just how much copium the Russian milbloggers are going to huff when all their big talk about how well their stuff stacks up to Western shit is put to the test.

Video from Ukraine Matters just dropped, detailing recent events, including the reports of WWII tanks moving towards the front, and the actual results of the recent Chinese visit to Russia:

T-55s are cold-war though. I don't know why people are talking about WW2 tanks.

I'd love to see a T34-85 running around somewhere. Second best tank in War Thunder. (The best is the KV2. Sacrifice enough dissidents to the gulag and the hand stalin himself will guide your shells to their targets.)

Their failure is take Bakhmut so far is just terribly embarrassing. Can you imagine the US devoting its best units to sieging a city in Mexico and failing to take it after 6 months? I do think it's going to fall but after the Bakhmut offensive I suspect the Russians might run out of steam. Very excited to see the salt and cope that's going to come from this next counteroffensive.

More Monkey Ooks coming from the Kremlin about "unspecified consequences" due to Britain sending Depleted Uranium ammunition along with their challenger tanks.

Its like Putin thinks its still 2014 and he can just get by with unspecified threats. Even though he's literally pushed this mess as far up the escalation ladder as he can. What is he going to do if Britain does not back down? Start a War?

Beware holhol piggies, this is Russia's final warning!

2 more weeks and another 500,000 Ukrops will die like dogs in Bakhmut, glory to the Motherland!!

Guys, I think Russian morale might be a smidge on the low side.

Seriously how retarded do you have to be to not just surrender in this scenario?

Edit: People ask why Frodo didn't just fly on the eagles. But have you ever wondered what Gollum getting drone striked would look like?

Looks like he was already fucked up too, his leg wasn't looking too good. Might've been a case of "Well my legs fucked, I'm out in the middle of fucking nowhere, my buddies are all dead or dying, I'm dying, might as well exit on my terms."

Ryan McBeth put out his speculation and he thinks they're likely going to use the T-55s as mobile artillery. He believes they'll be used to fill in for regular Russian arty while the real stuff gets sent back to have their barrels replaced.

Bradleys have TOW missiles as well as the 25mm. Also, 73 Easting wasn't an Iraqi fighting retreat. It was their best units in a reverse slope ambush that failed due to Russian armor being shit compared to American and British armor.

And as an aside, Highway of Death was a different incident. HoD was the US Air Force fucking up the Iraqis retreating from Kuwait city down Highway 80.
the cope thread is talking about how fake and gay the T-55 news is

Note how he never actually posted anything to disprove the claim or anything concrete that would discredit the group making the claim. His argument goes:
>the footage is 4 years old t. trust me bro
>CIT is wrong because their articles have been reported on in the MSM
>CIT is wrong because they made a tweet saying information they post hasn't been verified for journalistic reasons (doesn't mean the information is false)
>CIT is wrong because the founder doesn't like Putin (HOW DARE HE)
>here's a shit meme demonstrating my lack of understanding of geopolitics and economics

Also holy shit patriots.win is literally Trumpreddit lmao. Really shows the class of intellect we're dealing with.
