Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

You won't believe what a enormous pile of woke clickbait shit Samantha Puc of Polygon wrote about Link. This is like Brianna Wu's 'Samus is Trans' clickbait all over again!

I'm at PAX East for a few days. Nintendo is here. Back in 2020, Pax was a little before Animal Crossing new Horizons came out. The Nintendo booth then was all about Animal Crossing. You could play it and everything.

Nintendo is back at PAX East this year. Next big title is Zelda: tears of the Kingdom in a few months. There's no new footage of that game, no demo you can play, just a Link Statue in the lobby. Nintendo is doing Mario cart and Splatoon tournaments.

Bad sign with there major Zelda title so close and they not showing anything new.

Nobody's favorite character is "queer/trans", not even faggots', hence they keep trying to fag up our established characters.

Link is not straight or gay. He is a fictional elf boy who only exists to be an avatar for the player. He is pretend and he does not have sex nor does he have genitals. It is autistic to even speculate on it in any serious manner.
I don't understand what is the point of being just as obtuse as the tra when looking at a piece of art/entertainment.
It's just as stupid to pretend Link isn't given any sexuality as it is to pretend he is a trans gay enby

It's not about "genitals", though just because the game doesn't gave him doesn't mean 99,99% of the fanbase isn't able to infer that if he was to have genitals, it would be the external type. You said it yoursell: link is ment to represent a boy, usually it's a package deal ....

He has to remain chaste, as this is a game for seven years old and up and aventure is the focus instead of romance, but there's quite often flirtatious understatements in his interactions with women, most notably Zelda, throughout the games. Often they are the ones flirting but you can't say he never seems to reciprocate. You can choose to believe he is only motivated by duty to Hyrule or a desire to do good in general, but depending on the game they throw in what can easily be interpreted as a little bit of a crush on Zelda while he tries to save her and the world. It's just a tease to humanize him ever so slightly, make the stakes more personal, and you can usually ignore it if you don't find that aspect appealing and just want Link to be a puzzle-solving, monster-slaying machine. But it's there and by design, and we all know by brownsing the web that the fandom noticed and responded to it a LOT, sometimes even too much.

In the japanese version of Botw it is said that the in-games texts express a unusual sense of longing/caring for Zelda that was lost in translation, tho i can't check it for myself.

He doesn't have nearly the same amount of shiptease with Sidon or Impa in any of her incarnations, of any of the fucking Gorons.

The point is I don't care and I play the game to fight monsters and solve puzzles.

I legitimately think it's a weird thing to think about on any sort of deep level, especially considering he is literally a prepubescent child in many of the games such as A Link to the Past, the two N64 games and Wind Waker.

You may not care, and you can grandstand about it being icky under the pretense than Link is a child in like 1 out of 10 games like a pearl-clutching puritan.

But it's still here in the canon and not "deep" so it's stupid to pretend it's not just to win a game against a Kotaku intern of all people. There's hints that the characters in the Zelda franchise experience romantic attachments, attraction...

And real kids have crushs too so i am not convinced that just because Link is sometimes a kid, it should be taboo to attribute him those kinds of feelings, especially since he is more often a teen than a kid. But romantic attachments can happen early in life. And at any age it doesn't mean you necessarily boink. It's not dirty to be attracted to someone or in love.

Anyway Nintendo in typical jap fashion, isn't that concerned and just throw innuendos in the games like it's nobody's business. In OOT even child Link encounters characters who flirt with him. And you could say the fairies in BOTW are straight-up sexually harassing Link, who is about 16 since comas years don't count. It's not something i enjoy about botw games, it's a bit crass, but it's typical of what passes as humor in japanese's medias.

Dude, no one cares.

I guess all the speculation that it's not gonna be much more than a glorified expansion pack might be true. That is a damn shame.

If that's the case, I'd love to know what they've been doing for six years. Six years took us from Skyward Sword to BotW (across two console generations :story: ). Is it that unreasonable to expect some kind of leap, even if not as great?

Well, that leap was tripped up by Corona-chan right in the middle, but even if Nintendo of Japan & Monolith went full-on maximum measures, they've had plenty of time to make something brilliant with the same engine. It's crazy to think about how there was only a 17 month gap between the releases of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
