I'm playing BotW fro the first time, five years after everyone else. Why the fuck is it raining constantly? Before anyone asks, I'm nowhere near Lanayru; the game just sucks. You can't climb, start a bonfire to skip past it and visibility is severely reduced. The game's biggest strengths rendered null by something that happens constantly with no way to control it. How do people defend this garbage?
Like I spend enough time waiting for rain to stop IRL, I don't want to watch a character on screen doing the same.
Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed how weirdly androgynous Link looks in this game. All Links look kind of girly but this one makes TP Link look like The Rock
Breath of the Wild is definitely not an easy installment to get into though I did sort of have fun screwing around and doing anything but progressing the story. It's especially rough in the beginning until you realize that if you upgrade your armor/clothing, you can pretty much take on the hardest enemies without much trouble. You're also probably better off trying to get the Master Sword asap although that will unfortunately take you awhile (I think you need to get 10 extra hearts excluding the 3 you start out with so that's at most 40 shrines assuming you didn't fight any bosses).
Guys, i booted up the game for the first time, and link refuses to exit his wack ass temple without getting railed by 8ft tall dark-skinned dude with big nose. What tf guys i thought you're not into games like these.

I knew something was off, I think when I played BoTW I had just completely forgotten all of Skyward Sword's story. Is this a common sentiment? All I've seen is lorefags fellating BoTW. I think at one point I googled the Hylia/3 Goddess thing, it doesn't make any sense even with the SUPER loose story that even existed with previous games.
I hate modern writing and its constant use of 'Destiny'. Not to say the series doesn't have destiny written into it, but the way it's handled in OoT and the games after was less a pre-defined series of events, and more like Link stepping into the role. In TP he has to learn how to be the hero from OoT Link (this is even more of a plot point in the Manga which is quite good). But Skyward Sword decided to add this timeloop garbage where every Link and Zelda and iteration of Ganon are reincarnations, meaning they never have any actual agency over anything. It weakens the story.
I always saw the games as entirely self contained, and any connections to other games (outside of the obvious ones like OoT/Majora into TP, or OoT to Wind Waker) as just references. The games are set up as though they are legends, and there are many different versions of those stories. That's why lorefags piss me off, they are digging into something that isn't there. The whole timeline in Hyrule Historia might actually be from the Hideomaro guy maybe, since HH was released as the design works for Skyward Sword. Creating a timeline is stupid especially when the games were not made with any sort of connections in mind. Whats worse is lorefags going and trying to fit Skyward Swords massive retcons into the previous games.
Having dug around a little more, turns out it's mostly in my extended friend circle of non-retards. Most are creaming their pants about how it's 'all connected man' and we're witnessing 'the REAL beginning of the series.'
I love lorefagging. It's fun to find these little connections and make these timelines and grander meta-narratives. But just like everything else, the internet ruins it by letting faggots obsess over it, despite the fact their grasp on basic story telling is about as tight as their leaky assholes.
If there's one non-serious thing that makes me MATI, it's the internet ruining fun things writers can do with a story, be it 'shipping' (hate the fucking term), lorefagging, or theory crafting. It can't just be a fun idea everyone laughs at, maybe thinks about for a few minutes, then moves on, no, it has to be a big fucking deal, and more well researched than a fucking thesis paper.

I always liked the simpler angles, but with hidden depth if you knew what to look for. The actual "lore" finds, before Hyrule Historia outright revealed a lot of things.
On a semi-related note, I've come upon an interesting thought. In a roundabout sense, all three tri-force holders from Ocarina of Time end up returning in Twilight Princess, but only two of them retain their original pieces.
OoT Link returns as the Hero's Shade
OoT Zelda returns as TP Zelda (Hylia reborn). The manga takes this to 11 by having TP Zelda share memories with her past incarnation.
BotW spoilers follow I just finished the game and am utterly flabbergasted that the game saves right before Ganon and won't let you play post game. Granted, every Zelda does this but this is the one game that it would actually be ideal for. I was kind of looking forward to exploring Hyrule without all the shit around the castle. Jesus Christ this game was terrible to the end.
Why is Nintendo so averse to a true post game? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Mario fucking Tennis.

What difference would post game even make mate? it would literally be just a world without a lot of enemies, no red moon, no areas that need some kind of platforming because there is no malice, they would literally need to redesign areas of the game.

It just makes the game feel incomplete, that's all. I'm sure they could contrive some reason that the enemies are still there. Plus, they could still have made some post game quests to change up the world.
Where do you guys think the name "Stalfos" comes from? The second part obviously comes from "foes" (cf. Lizalfos), but I can't make the connection between "stal" and "undead skeleton." Probably nothing but I just wondered if I was missing some insight.

After playing BotW, am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing friendly - or at least neutral - camps of Bokoblins/Lizalfos? Nintendo put a lot of work into humanizing them and implying there's more to them than meets the eye. There is precedent in the series after all...
