Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

If you like TP and OoT, you need to play MM. You can clearly follow a chronological sequence of events through in-game and out-game lore. Ocarina flows into Majora, which then after a long time becomes Twilight Princess, the games are inextricably linked, like a Trilogy. Majora's Mask and Midna's helmet, the Hero's Shade existing, TP Link being a rancher with an Epona... all of these things and more link the games together and are very interesting bits of lore that interest me far more as a Zelda fan than Sheikah Shrines. And TP Link ain't no Twink, ya dig?
Im more waiting for decomped ports now. OOT is so good after the PC port that I don't want to play zelda any other way now. I wish I knew how to code so I could assist in decomp

Like, who the hell finished Breath of the Wild and thought "That was good, but I really want the next game to be about building vehicles."? Cause that and more lorefag shallow storytelling is all I've gotten over the last 6 years of hype building.
Even lorefags hate it, because of the new director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, having a seeming need to buttfuck the entire chronology for his own ego, and re-do everything in the setting.

The goddesses? Fucking irrelevent, it's all about Hylia, my totally original OC REAL Goddess who just looks like Zelda. Ganondorf being just a guy who's lust for power spiraled the world into chaos? Nah, it's actually a demon from hell that looks like Oni from Street Fighter. And this super sexy robot girl lives in the master sword and has been forever!

Everything to love about the setting, from it's heroes to it's villains to it's very identity, HAS to be remade in his image.

The only people that like it are the same people who thought Skyward Sword is great, and they deserve to be shot.

And if the theory of the day is true, that the entire thing is leading to a fucking autistic time-loop, where since the game has underground sections, OBVIOUSLY that means that Ganon will be sealed underground and become Demise, and the skylands are OBVIOUSLY a precursor to Skyloss-of-potential, then this faggot has not only ruined the entire franchise, but closed off any hope of any part of the franchise being remotely likable ever again, since it now ALL begins and ends with him.

Majora's Mask is probably my favourite 3d Zelda game. The whole game is so fucking trippy and surreal and genuinely kind of creepy at times. Everything in that game just makes you go what the fuck? Even from the very beginning

I've been trying to replay BoTW and man... I'm not having a great time. I love the atmosphere of the world and exploring is pretty fun, but fuck shrines and whoever came up with them.
I just think they're fucking tedious! Honestly, I wish we could've found heart and stamina upgrades hidden out in the actual open world or guarded by powerful enemies of whatever, rather than having to move this stupid ball with these stupid motion controls.
I mean, the biggest strength of the game is the open world itself. It doesn't make sense to me to segregate a bunch of gameplay inside a series of challenge rooms that feel completely disconnected from everything else.
So we have all these shrines that break the flow of exploration in half, and as a reward for beating this tough monster camp you can have uhhh, a banana. Enjoy!

I'm playing BotW fro the first time, five years after everyone else. Why the fuck is it raining constantly? Before anyone asks, I'm nowhere near Lanayru; the game just sucks. You can't climb, start a bonfire to skip past it and visibility is severely reduced. The game's biggest strengths rendered null by something that happens constantly with no way to control it. How do people defend this garbage?

Like I spend enough time waiting for rain to stop IRL, I don't want to watch a character on screen doing the same.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed how weirdly androgynous Link looks in this game. All Links look kind of girly but this one makes TP Link look like The Rock

It's creepy. Especially considering how young he looks in this one.

Well get ready, because there’s a part in the game that capitalizes on that, and it’s weird/unnecessary af.

Other than that, it’s a pretty good game. I’m not sure why it’s raining so much in yours, I don’t recall having that issue. I wonder if there was a patch or something that upped the chance for rain. I haven’t played in about 2-3 yrs.

I already found the place while 'splorin'. I haven't done anything there yet, but I know hat you mean.

On a happier note, I just found out about the camera being connected to the compendium. This elevated the game from a 2/10 to a 5/10 for me. I'm going to be taking pictures of everything now, and they're all going to be like that meme of men taking a picture vs women:

That’s one of the best mechanics of the game. They really wanted you to explore and it shows.

- Use the Eyephone to track shiny rocks
- Trade to that shark architect for diamonds
- Profit.

I knew something was off, I think when I played BoTW I had just completely forgotten all of Skyward Sword's story. Is this a common sentiment? All I've seen is lorefags fellating BoTW. I think at one point I googled the Hylia/3 Goddess thing, it doesn't make any sense even with the SUPER loose story that even existed with previous games.

I hate modern writing and its constant use of 'Destiny'. Not to say the series doesn't have destiny written into it, but the way it's handled in OoT and the games after was less a pre-defined series of events, and more like Link stepping into the role. In TP he has to learn how to be the hero from OoT Link (this is even more of a plot point in the Manga which is quite good). But Skyward Sword decided to add this timeloop garbage where every Link and Zelda and iteration of Ganon are reincarnations, meaning they never have any actual agency over anything. It weakens the story.

I always saw the games as entirely self contained, and any connections to other games (outside of the obvious ones like OoT/Majora into TP, or OoT to Wind Waker) as just references. The games are set up as though they are legends, and there are many different versions of those stories. That's why lorefags piss me off, they are digging into something that isn't there. The whole timeline in Hyrule Historia might actually be from the Hideomaro guy maybe, since HH was released as the design works for Skyward Sword. Creating a timeline is stupid especially when the games were not made with any sort of connections in mind. Whats worse is lorefags going and trying to fit Skyward Swords massive retcons into the previous games.

Still going through BotW. Why is everyone so quiet in this game? My volume's way up and I can barely hear them.

Looking back, the Deku Tree probably did say something like, "There's a big stone door in the Temple of Time. Don't fuck with it.", but Link just didn't hear him.

Aw. Wanted to play as Zelda
Same, to i already expected her not to since that trailer that showed her falling down a pit. At least i would have liked her to act as the game's equivalent to Navi.
Besides that, some thoughts i have about the leaks:
I like that they really seems to be adding way more enemy types this time around, counting the ones from the artbook as well as ones that we saw in the trailer like the Redead and Gleeok it seems like we now have double the roster of BotW's mobs.
The enemies having weapons on their heads, as well as some of the weapons and equipment we saw in the trailers like that double handed sword that shoots a canonball and the fire breathing shield seem to indicate a new weapon forging mechanic, further hinted at by that image of a sword with a toenail incrusted in its tip, and a image of link bringing materials to a blacksmith.
There's a lot of artwork that may hint at the return of traditional dungeons, or on a negative scenario, more areas like the labyrinths from BotW, as well as shrines coming back with a new white and orange aesthetic rather than blue and brown.
Really like Purah's new adult design, seems like they didn't just reuse the one from AoC. Impa, Pay and what looks to be the Zora king also seem nice.
There's a lot of stuff there but that's what interested me the most.

I’m good with not playing Zelda. Most games don’t get the dual protagonists right anymore, and they probably would’ve cut more corners.

I didn’t see skulltulas so that’s a huge plus.

The NPC designs were really good and unique from each other.
I cracked up at the mental illness haircuts for the Gerudo though.

That hooded armor for Link looks badass.
