Because that shit is "too confusing" for normies, which really just means its new and they don't want to learn. The would be mass confusion and outrage if windows users had to do something like manually grant a media player permissions to the appropriate libraries.I don't understand why Windows hasn't implemented something selinux to protect shit like appdata folders from being accessed by random-ass applications. Why in the dear fucking god are browser profiles able to be read by just anything in the year of our lord (social engineering), 2023? We're fucking around with TPM and UEFI security and all this other bullshit when all it takes is a user-level piece of malware to pwn just about your entire life.
It's clickbait. He made the "wrong decision" because he should have bought more of the company, because today's announcements are JUST SO GOOD!!!
Haven't watched the video, but this was obviously coming to anyone with a brain. Imagine thinking a modular laptop is anything more than a pipedream.
Clickbaity as always, im interested in the form factor, less than MiniITX and now that come with the separated GPU, we can have something the side of a waffle running AAA on High if you ditch the laptop formHaven't watched the video, but this was obviously coming to anyone with a brain. TBH they could make it like phones do nowadays with an easy menu for each authorization, but i know a monkey paw when i see one.Because that shit is "too confusing" for normies, which really just means its new and they don't want to learn. Normies will never access their appdata folders. And I can't see any good reason why any other application would want to access a browser's data.Because that shit is "too confusing" for normies, which really just means its new and they don't want to learn. Imagine falling for bait like that.

Oh no we just got hacked and exposed in the most embarrassing way possible, quick, put out the video about how our investment is totally so good, maybe we can save some faceIt's clickbait. They announced a laptop that's even more modular.
The old Edge was a UWP app I believe, before it became Microsoft Chrome. That said, it still had its own space in the AppData folder although it wasn't particularly easy to find or use anything in it, not that most people have a reason to do so. I only ever poked in it to try and recover bookmarks for clients at work but it was often more work than it was worth.Normies will never access their appdata folders. And I can't see any good reason why any other application would want to access a browser's data.
I mean, UWP solves this, right? Are there any UWP browsers? Do UWP apps work with GPO? This seems like such a huge issue to me with nothing really addressing it properly, even though it is well within our reach to correct it.
Have you seen their in-house "NAS"? They just pile 40-ish disks into a machine and set up a ZFS raid-z2 pool on half of them and then mirror it to the other half. In that configuration as few as 3 disks can fail and cause the entire volume's data to be lost. Why would Linus leave personal videos unlisted under his business account for years instead of stored on a NAS and keep another backup encrypted on the cloud?
that's just how YT works. Acknowledge you're an idiot one day, pretend nothing happened the nextOh no we just got hacked and exposed in the most embarrassing way possible, quick, put out the video about how our investment is totally so good, maybe we can save some face
But make it a fakeout clickbait
I'm really happy Framework exists. The fact it's taken this fucking long for a decent laptop to come to market is both angering and gratifying. About damn time for a promising product. About damn fucking time!Imagine falling for bait like that.
He's saying framework is doing fine which is great, I'm fucking tired of laptops becoming disposable shit like phones specially since there's no reason to make them like that.
Sure we all wanted the ARA phone because it looked cool but it was going to be a brick and most people dont want to carry that around, but laptops dont need to be pocketable so all this shit about soldered components to make it thinner its BS, its all planned obsolescence.
The people from framework are not even reinventing anything like the ARA phone did, laptops used to be even more modular than this with removable CPUs and GPUs. Can't do the latter since all CPUs are soldered now which is why framework makes you change the entire motherboard, tho they could go with a daughterboard but w/e. There were removable GPUs for laptops with the MXM format but it was always poorly supported and overpriced by design because even 15 years ago OEMs saw that the real money was on forcing you to buy a whole new laptop, not providing parts.
Watch any teardown of a late 90's era thinkpad it will blow your mind how you could change every single component.
I never had a laptop that was actually broken, as in literally the chasis broken into 2 parts of bent or whatever. Every laptop I had to change was because of obsolescence. Now that framework its moving beyond the soyboy macbook air format to real laptops I might get one, but I'll wait to see how the GPU thing goes and how much support it gets.
