RWBY - The Hindenburg on which Rooster Teeth rests its hopes, dreams and future

Seriously, at this point I understand why some people are more interesting in just shipping characters and writing fanfictions. The last volume has really made it so I genuinely can't like team RWBY, (except for Weiss maybe.) I know it's kind of stupid to get so bummed out over a low-production quality American anime, but-
I agree. The plot's completely soulless and there's been barely any character development. I know RWBY's being going downhill for a long time but it really seems like the writers are dragging their feet with this one.

rwby twitter is just downright awful. they’re terminally online.

What crack is this person smoking? Flawlessly executed fight sequences? I've seen Naruto filler arc fights that are choreographed better than most shit that's come out since Monty died. The only fights that look decent are fights Miles and Kerry told the animators to steal wholeheartedly from better shows.
I can only assume the “flawlessly executed” fights include the shit Monty created.

Or from old unused animation Monty made before croaking.

Really, with all the time that the characters spend just sitting around and talking, there's basically no character development. The clueless fans will gush about how super duper amazing the character arcs are, but so little of their development is actually shown. Somehow said fans can spin some tale about how if you paid attention to every minute detail, RWBY is one of the best contributions to media. I don't even think M&K think that much about their own show. So many of the character building moments are unmemorable, and it doesn't help that they're few and far between. I think this is what I dislike most about the show.

Is Mary not familiar with any other media? There's tons of shows out there that have several women as protagonists. (Sailor Moon is probably the first one everyone thinks of, and it technically has 10 female protagonists!) I will point out, Japanese shit is a better place to look for stuff like that, but it's by no means uncommon. Action girls is a universal appeal imo.
I think I deserve dumb ratings for this, but I have a soft spot in my heart for RWBY's "style" even if it's generic. It's nothing special animation-wise except for the fact that anime shows aren't 3d as much as JRPGs though.

Recap from the comments:

Tyrian cutting himself on Emerald’s knife as she tries to be threatening was nice.
All the character interactions when they reunited were good, made all the better with the fact the relationships are more fleshed out in this version and they come off as actual friends.
Ruby giving Qrow the cold shoulder makes sense, he really messed up.
The talk between Jaune and Sapphrone was really nice yeah it wasn’t anything ground breaking but it was still nice.
I really like how Salem is a combination of terrifying Eldritch horror and “warm” and “caring”, also like how she doesn’t do an over the top scream but instead just oozes and lets the environment show her pure rage.
Weiss reacting to the “pilot” was a neat touch. Them all just being exhausted is to expected but was still nice to see.
Ruby actually repairing her weapon is nice, yes it was damaged in this version but they would all have tinker with their weapons in the show but they never do, they’re just always pristine.
Qrow actually trying to make up for what he did was nice, instead of him just wallowing in drunken misery until he’s just “over it” like in the show.
Summer being expanded on in this version is nice, she’s actually feeling like a person.

"What's the point in saving lives if Salem just destroys the world anyway?"

"You don't mean that Ruby! T-T-That's something Ironwood would say!"

This line is a perfect encapsulation of the writer's mentality when it comes to winning an argument. "Hey, you' can't agree with someone I hate! That's illegal."

Also, the Bumbles finally kiss. The group enter a ponder storm where you can't escape until you make up your mind on the most prominent and important confusion you're going through. Their relationship is so much more important to them than the world-ending threat they're facing or the obvious anguish their friend/sister is going through, that they are whisked away until they kiss. Once again, nothing more perfectly encapsulates how terrible this ship is than the show itself.

I love how the show discourse has now changed to the show daring to villainize a black character.

And its still just as correct and valid a point as when Ironwood made it. Because you know, he actually did nothing wrong. Its really incredible how these writers really have no actual counter argument and have to resort to this kindergarten level argument.

The two characters who have been losing more and more of their character to bait a ship have now finally given up the last vestiges of character they had left to rug munch each other. Who the fuck cares?

Only RWBY social media and channels, but really, it's telling that even Clownfish TV have stopped giving this show any mention at all.

Edit:

Critter is still commenting on it, but it's more about how the fans have expectantly behaved.

Amazingly enough, even Hero has stopped talking about RWBY, though that might change after the BB kiss. Fingers crossed that he just forgets about this corpo bland schlock.

Let me address the elephant of the room. FRWBY’s Apathy that eat enough negative emotions can grow into "Mimics". It’s stupid for one simple reason:

Shapeshifting to imitate people has nothing to do with the Apathy's abilities.
