I think he looks, and acts, exactly like Pat x Jake Alley (bearded version, though in his soul Jake will always be that horrible gnome no matter what Party City wig he's wearing). There's a certain something that even puts him worse than MovieBob, though he's the same physical template.
It's a combination of many things, like one of those people who goes apeshit about notes and hints in a glass of wine: it's flavours of a specific level of delusion, denial of reality, exaggeration to the point of lying about even the most minor things, and claiming expertise in whatever topic is at hand. There's strong notes of a lordly condescension with its mix of above-it-all haughtiness and then unbridled rage, an endless pit of seething
barely concealed at the best of times, huge amounts of projection, and of course, contempt - for anyone they slightly disagree with, for MAGA chud TERF Nazi fascist alt-right boogeymen, for everyone who doesn't give them the life they think they deserve and are owed for being on the right side of history.
Shane is the archetype of every single obnoxious nerd who has made women uncomfortable in nerd spaces, the Nice Guy with the Right Opinions who thinks that counters his inherent horrible nature and who sets off every warning signal. He's that guy who women think 'well at least he's married so he won't try anything', then at a con drinks he has half a beer and starts talking about his open relationship and how he's polyamorous. He's the guy who thinks that only calling the correct targets like JK Rowling and Kari Lake bitches and cunts hides his deep resentment of women in general. He's the guy who you see around places like Star Trek conventions and other nerdy things and really makes you understand the concept of 'a missing stair', of the insidious nature of a certain kind of degenerate that, no matter how many women are part of a fandom, you can see why there's certain elements that make them feel unwelcome or unsafe, because there's Shanes around and nothing is done about them because they're at their worst in private and are generally ignored by everyone except their targets in public.
And above all he is, as has been pointed out many times, a throwback to a very specific type of nerd asshole, as if he's been frozen in time and brought into present day. Many of his type have trooned out, or matured, or gotten concerned with real life. Not Shane, though, he's the exact same aggressive, conceited fuckwit he's been for the last twenty years, and he will never get better. I suspect Shane as a cow will be very one-note, but it's an incredibly hateable note. If we're going to get variations, it will be the OnA guys' creativity that brings it out, but I don't know that he has Pat-level lolsuits, false flags and reply guy stamina in him. It will be interesting to find out, though.
