Not sure if this is more appropriate for this thread or the Rowling Megathread, though this thread is a lot more active. I’ve caught up on the Witch Trials podcast, and six episodes in they pull a bait and switch where they cast doubt on JK Rowling’s up till now righteous views by inviting two of the most milquetoast troons to interview.
The host, Meagan, begins by recounting how adamant she was when she was a Christian fundamentalist and the backlash and threats she received in return, which later caused her to reevaluate her position when it came to things like gay marriage. A parallel is implied between her and Rowling’s view on dangerous trannies from previous episode as Meagan mulls over what could cause someone to be convinced that they are on the morally correct side.
The show brings on two trannies to provide a counterbalance to the last 5 episodes (which, to my dismay, barely dwelled on the “choke on my girldick” comments). Meagan mentions that she has asked several transgender people to comment on the podcast but many had refused. Nevertheless, she and her team choose two palatable, normie-safe, non-extremist people to bring onto the show this week,
Spoiler: neither of them actually say anything bad about Rowling.
The first is Contrapoints (Natalie Wynn), who puts emphasis on the backlash they got from fellow transgenders for a centrist take on JK rather than address the Joanne questions directly. There is some denouncement of her bathroom bills, some talk about how hard it is to actually get hormones, but he’s playing defensive — there’s some pauses as Contrapoints calculates the optimal combination of words to avoid getting cancelled and eaten by his own. Natalie breaks down crying at the end. They include this in the final cut.
The second guest is a just-turned-17 year old who got the teet yeet 3 months ago, self described as “the exact type of person JK Rowling is concerned about”. They talk about transition and how it was either that or suicide post-puberty. Still, no potshots towards Rowling. The teen pooner even idolizes Jo and fantasizes about having a pleasant conversation with her where they set aside their differences. I tried to see if they had a Twitter and didn’t find one, unfortunately. Would have been fun to see the backlash.
I really hope the podcast brings in someone absolutely unhinged and really hammer home the Rowling Derangement Syndrome. Not likely though — they’re trying to keep it balanced and show both sides in a harmless light. If you’re looking for a based denouncement of trannies, this podcast ain’t it, chief.
