What's causing 10/10 pain on Jack, and where? Did he overwork himself at physical therapy?
I wonder why they "can give me no pain medication." He might be exaggerating because the nurse is stuck down the hall setting up a tube feeding and is taking a few minutes. He might have been discharged with a Norco script that expired after a week (this is usually more of a hospital thing though). Jack didn't fall and break a bone when he had his latest CVA; there's nothing about his diagnosis that implies pain management with opiates.
If Jack has reported no pain for two weeks and suddenly is complaining of excruciating pain, that's pretty much a nursing textbook question, and the answer is to assess him thoroughly. Wouldn't want to miss another heart attack.

If Jack had a script for pain meds and it has run out and he has to wait till the Facility Doctor is in to give him a new prescription they'd still would offer him Motrin or some other over the counter pain med to help. As Aunt Carol pointed out the nurse is probably down the hall dealing with more urgent matters and isn't dropping everything for Jack.
Also, 2 weeks is usually the window for short term visits to a nursing home for insurance companies staying longer possibly implies he's going to be in there for a while if not permanently.

To clarify: Jack would still need a prescription for OTC meds--this is the nature of being admitted to a facility--but nearly every SNF discharge gets sent out with PRN orders for Tylenol, Mylanta and bowel care, even if they weren't using them at the hospital. Nobody wants to make or to receive phone calls about poop meds.
The medication reconciliation process means that at discharge, the hospitalist goes over what the patient was taking at home and what they were taking in the hospital, and decides to stop or continue each medication. If Jack wasn't using opiates in the hospital, it's really unlikely they'd order any on discharge.
Nursing homes don't have pharmacies on-site like hospitals do, so if a doctor writes a new prescription, they still have to wait for it to get filled and delivered (same-day) to the facility. Some common (and cheap) medications are stocked in big-ass bulk bottles, but that's things like acetaminophen and docusate. Everything else is earmarked, usually blistercarded, for individual patients. Controlled meds especially; the nurses/med aides have to do a 2-man count each shift change. There isn't just a bulk bottle of oxycodone they can pull from, for Jack, even he gets a new prescription.
If Jack "Par 4" Scalfani isn't pharmaceutically anticoagulated by now, I don't know what's going on. We can always hope for a miracle, though.

The 0-10 pain scale is entirely relative to the individual. 10 isn't the worst pain in existence, it's the worst pain the patient ever felt in their life. So, someone who's never expirenced much worse than sore muscles or a jammed toe may report a relatively minor fractured bone as a SUPER legit 10, sooooo painful.
Then there are the patients who wouldn't report a 10 unless their vision was blacked out and they've involuntarily pissed/puked on themselves from the agony. Assuming they can even get a word out.

Now, I'm no expert on strokes and symptoms, but I'm pretty sure that a "crippling pain headache" in someone with a history of strokes is a massive red flag for "Your having another stroke right now". The fact he wasn't rushed to the ER tells me that probably wasn't it. So that leaves what, Neuropathic pain? Can that shit even heal? Do painkillers even have the ability to suppress it? I doubt ending up in an Opiod arc would even help at that point.

I can see it now. Its breakfast time, Jack once again gets floppy toast and 1 serving of eggs and cold oatmeal. He looks down at his plate and silently seethes as he reaches for his phone with his only working arm. As he attempts to use whatever brainpower he has left to make a semi coherent statement that he is angy he was served a Peruvian Middle Eastern childs portions and he is a big boy he feels something. A shooting pain in his head that throbs over and over. Perhaps a migrane or another incoming stroke? God is trying his damnest to get his message to Jack and all he can do is just think, "My head has a boo boo because no meat".

Neuropathic pain - I don't know much about it or its causes beyond "damage to the central nervous system", but apparently it can be really bad. I was also under the impression that nervous system damage doesn't tend to respond to painkillers - Blocking damaged tissue signaling or receptors on the nerves doesn't help when the nerves themselves are misfiring and causing the pain sensation. If there is something that works on it, Its exceedingly unlikely to be over the shelf, I doubt it could even be take-home in any capacity if its shutting down brain activity of any sort.

Neuropathy in the head exists; the trigeminal nerve in your face and your optic nerve can get irritated and make it feel like liquid fire or knives are being shoved into that region.
Jack shrugging it off and using it to bitch is amusing in a dark way, since while this happens sometimes due to strokes, it also can be a warning sign of some real bad blood vessel construction. The sort that can cause another stroke. Or full on aneurysm.
It could also be that he's going through a big case of caffeine withdrawal too, since he did chug a fuckload of cream with coffee to add the stimulant into it. A side effect of getting cut off partially is also head aches and pain due to your changed brain receptors kind of relying on it now.
Though I think the faggot's just malingering and trying to get people to attack the clinic for not giving him meat since the bright light from his phone would probably make said pain worse IMO. Especially if it's optic neuralgia.
