Agreed. I don't see a class angle here at all. The shooter was a comfortable middle class art student living with and supported by her dad - not some deprived, downtrodden person who snapped after losing one thing too many.

She probably thought she was a victim of transphobia and maybe of capitalism too, but that would reflect her own warped POV rather than reality. Our culture likes sympathetic villains, but most people who go postal aren't sympathetic characters like D-Fens or Arthur Fleck/Joker.

I think Arthur Fleck Joker is the best modern portrayal of this kind of thing. He's sympathetic if you share his delusions, but in reality he's a monster. At first the film presents his delusions as fact, but as it progresses the cracks start to show, until you wonder if he hallucinated the entire thing inside his padded cell.

They tracked Gun Violence in Australia, and found that it was already trending downwards before the Port Arthur shooting happened.

Also guns weren't banned. There's simply a whole lot of paperwork you need to get them now. I know plenty of sporting and hunting shooters. It was most likely an effort by the Government to remove unregistered firearms from circulation by doing a massive buyback offer.

That way when they send the cops to your house for not masking up and taking your COVID shot or whatever new orwellian thing they have going, their info tells them accurately, you are defenseless.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s insanity to argue that trannies should arm themselves with any weapon, let alone a firearm. Let’s just run down the list, these are people who:

• hate a majority of the population
• consider themselves to be beyond reproach
• are isolated in little cult like groups
• have either (in case of ftms) a long history of sexual abuse, mental disorders and substance abuse or
• in case of mtfs, are predators themselves, have history of violent assaults, struggle with mental health and substance abuse

and, with all these factors in mind, are then being pumped with dangerous, never before seen or tested levels of cross sex hormones and undergoing barbaric medical procedures.
