At first glance, Temperance seems to have very little to do with pooners or troons in general. After all, troons never seem to do anything in moderation - they are never satisfied, and they keep pushing & pushing for more acceptance, more validation, more surgeries, more hormones, etc etc. Eventually they ruin themselves and join the 41%. Total train wrecks.
The Rider-Waite card above depicts an angel pouring a liquid from one vessel to another. This is the key symbolism, and you can also see it in
Temperance as a Christian virtue. Sometimes it's just about balancing out the liquids to make sure neither vessel is too full or too empty, but more often it's about diluting wine by pouring water into it. It's all a reference to self-restraint, moderation, and modesty.
The card also shows the angel with one foot on dry land and the other in a body of water - again, about balance or straddling between two extremes and finding a new stability. As part of the
Fool's Journey, the Temperance card kinda represents the idea of
"slow and steady wins the race". In the card's background, there's a trail that goes off into the distance, leading to a crown or shining sun at the end (which represents the goal/conclusion of the journey, but could also be enlightenment, God, or whatever else a person is striving for). It means temperance is key to completing a long, difficult journey.
Slightly more esoteric, but the Rider-Waite card also shows a sun disk on the brow of the angel, as well as the
Tetragrammaton and a
Septenary symbol (the golden triangle within a square) on the angel's white robes. These all mark the angel as a holy, wise, priest-like figure.
So what would a pooner temperance card look like...?
14.TEMPERANCE.--Economy, moderation, frugality, management, accommodation. Reversed: Things connected with churches, religions, sects, the priesthood, sometimes even the priest who will marry Querent; also disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.
Pooners & troons obviously don't embody the traditional ideas of Temperance at all. But look at the symbolism of Temperance Reversed!
Transgenderism is very cult-like, and you could say that the influential TRAs, gender therapists, SRS surgeons, and HRT producers are kinda like the priests of this secular religion. If I had any artistic talent, I would replace the Angel in the Temperance card with an
Angel of Death - representing medical professionals who push troons towards destroying themselves. As for the vessels, I would have the Angel of Death making DIY hormones - maybe pouring a goblet of troonshine into a bathtub or something.
As for the other symbolism, I'm not as creative. I would probably have Lil Pooner in the bottom right, looking up at the Angel of Death. The trail in the background would be strewn with bones and discarded needles, all leading up to an illusory, shining figure of manhood.
