Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

Ya know I was pondering why I had spent yet another week without hearing about Bakhmut falling during my lunch break today, and it just hit me that russia's cope for being routed from Kherson is the fact that they stole a fucking racoon from one of the zoos there and were spinning this as a victory for over a month afterwards and parading it around for propaganda

A quick search later and it seems they are still fucking rolling it out for the cameras

Like... I have made the comparison between russia and our own Ethan Ralph many times before now, but this just exemplifies the sheer "YOU MAY HAVE HUMILIATED ME, KICKED THE SHIT OUT OF ME, AND MADE ME SHIDD AND FARD MYSELF IN PUBLIC, BUT IM STILL WINNING BECAUSE I TRULLD YEEW!" patheticness that makes this comparison so very apt, as the only reaction both have when facing embarrassment and failure is to smear themselves all over with their proverbial shit and treat the fact they are the absolute nadir of white trash niggerbrain manlets as some kind of moral victory because of how much revulsion they inspire from everyone else.
I guess they didn't have enough time to abduct more children before the retreat. Not even raccoons want to be in Russia...

Russia as Ethan Ralph the Nation State Is perhaps the best explanation for all of this yet presented. Well done my friend.

Ukraine has private Beaver who refuse to leave the trench.
Russia has a racoon they stole from a zoo.

edit, but it looks like RUSI ( Royal united Services insitiute) has released a a paper on the invasion.
I have attached the PDF here, but here are some key highlights:
  1. They thought it was going to be a repet of the 2014 takeover of Crimea.
  2. They had double agents in the SBU who gave FSB informations on key infrastrucers (such as nuclear plants) and there were spy networks that have been active for a long time.
  3. The Ukranian defense minister and most of the general staff, got phone calls and text messages from their Russian counterparts, asking them not to fight.
  4. Their use of cyberwarfare was focused on the Ukranian communction network in an effort to create chaos. It failed, as Ukraine was prepared for it.
  5. Russia indented to occupy Kiev in the first 72 hours (Remember this when vatniks say it was never an option).
  6. They were so sure, that they had already rented apartments through their supports in Kiev (are they still paying for the rent?)
  7. NATO and Ukraine was taken by surprise, as they expected Russia to conduct a military offensive, not this halfass shit they did.
There is way more in the pdf and I recommend reading it.

I heard Peter Zeihan say that Taiwan could get one built pretty quickly
Zogbot Zeihan, like most public intellectuals, is full of shit and can’t analyze anything empirically, and will often outright make up statistics. On Rogan, he claimed Ukrainian total casualties are 1 / 3 of Russia’s casualties despite no think tank or reputable agency corroborating that. Why does he think this? Well, Orcs surely must be taking more casualties, and 1 / 3 is a good number!

He treats nations like they’re players in a strategy game, with each side getting set buffs and debuffs, and he probably endorses this thinking so he can make whatever claim he wants regardless of analysis.

He sucks! > :^(

Putin's Wagner obsession makes sense if you want to kill third worlders with a veneer of deniability, but for actually getting things done it's a bit of a nightmare.

I'd hate to make a comparison to nazis, because most comparisons are often over the top and tired...but having different people competing against each other in order to achieve the same thing (and work against each other instead of you) is literally what hitler did.

"Routine" means exactly that, regular conscription that happens twice a year (spring and autumn). They're unlikely to be dragged into the war presently, but they will be offered contracts at some point in their 12 month service for sure. Unless they sign, they most likely won't see any action, save for some shenanigans like "surprise exercises" in another country.
They're aiming to get 150k young men, good luck with that lol. These days people are dodging mandatory service with increased vigor, for obvious reasons.
Because throwing more poorly trained poorly equipped and poorly paid conscripts into the meat grinder has been a winning strategy so far.

Putin must be a real dumb fuck. lol
Luckily that's not what's happening here, at least for the time being.

IIRC they claimed the heat was too much for them, which makes me wonder if Oman is regretting its purchase. Or maybe it was because half the country is on a plateau and the air is too thin?

Its probably just MOD cope, but I do remember a lot of mechanical stuff under load having issues due to the thinner air and wild temperature swings. Some wrenchhead was saying how the outside conditions and air fucked with the oil/lubricants and made them less effective - I trust the guy with the most experience actually working on engines, but he might have been shouting at gremlins.

People seem to take addition of ERA as an affront to tank's machine spirit or whatever.
What's the big deal? Shouldn't it be somewhat ok as long as tank can handle extra weight?

As others have covered:
It may be adding significant weight for not much effect. Explosives - shaped explosives but still - are glued to your armor. Additionally depending on the round and the ERA it might not make any difference when you are hit, as well as potentially making a small caliber hit more damaging.

The Germans are losing their shit "look at how they massacred my boy" style because this is sending their export weapon to the front looking like a mad-max hoopty wagon. They are also expecting Slav Engineering quality - Leopard 2 doing shit because of Slavs Slavving it up.

I believe they made some ERA bolt-ons for the Leopard 2 to cover the sides/magazine.

I mean have you not seen those huge gains around bahkmut after a year? Two more weeks guys, and then the Vatniks are going to be insufferable.

I know Wagner was used in Syria and they were successful there except when they went up against some American soldiers and got wrecked. But there is a big difference between fighting some insurgents in Syria and fighting professional soldiers. This is something a lot of people seemed to have learned the hard way in Ukraine. Especially some of the Western volunteers who went over to work as mercs.

I haven't seen or heard anyone use the term hoopty in a long time. Probably since the 90's. lol

I saw the pic of the Leo with the ERA attached to it. I didn't know what it was at first. I said is that a Leopard 2 with ERA blocks. But I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if the Germans had their own version of ERA and they put it on the tank before sending it to Ukraine. I think the US has something like ERA for the Abrams.

The Russians started putting ERA on their tanks because the armor isn't very good. Most modern Western tanks like the Challenger Abrams and Leo all have pretty good armor. ERA would be kind of useless I imagine. A tanks job isn't just to sit in one spot and take shots though. People seem to think that. The best thing to do is not get hit.

Yeah. But it's not as bad for these volunteers as for Russian mobiks who thinks they're living in a dramatized WWII war movie filled with heroics, comradeship and romance.
I shit you not, that's the perspective a lot of grown Russian men have, it's all like one big LARP. I can't overstate how prevalent that is, especially among men older than 40.

Wagner's core troops have the befit of training from real soldiers. Wagner main squads are well equiped, have access to good supplies (which is different from being well-supplied), and are lethally trained and pretty much everyone agrees there.

They are everything Putin wants the Russian army to be, but turning the Russian army in to Wagner means every general - hell every full-bird colonel - becomes a threat and the soviet mind cannot process the disconnect.

Yeah I forgot to put that conclusion: ERA makes the tank slower for (on western tanks) minimal gains; it makes it more likely to be hit while not greatly changing the outcome of being hit.

Putting ERA on the T-55 is mandatory given the age of the armor, but it'll reduce one of the T-55's biggest advantages which is the comparatively light weight.

In Syria, wagner had Syrian troops and militia to serve the role of the prison brigades: locate the enemy so they can move in and hit them.

I swear they all "debate" the exact same way. I could probably make it a bingo card.

Don't think the guy he's arguing with is the smartest either, but at least he's trying to argue his points somewhat in good faith (as in, actually responding to arguments, presenting some evidence, not simply calling the guy a shill and pretending that's a W, etc.). I've literally never seen a vatnik even approach that.
