A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former US president Donald Trump on Thursday (local time) over hush money payments made to a porn star in the lead-up to the 2016 election campaign. Mr Trump released a statement to Truth Social shortly after news of the charges broke, which both confirmed and slammed his indictment. Speaking to Sky News Australia, Professor Siracusa discussed Donald Trump’s indictment – what it means and what processes are next in line for the former US president. “He is the greatest show going on in America,” Professor Siracusa said.

From a technical point of view it's pretty easy to do digital signatures of images and videos which would be able to prove something is not fake if the creator wanted to do that. Basically the real creator signs it cryptographically and appends a tag to the video or image saying "Signed by X" then just like https you have some way to verify that signature back to the original creator and can figure out if it came from whitehouse.gov or whitehouse.com.

The other part is the user experience, you'd have to have browser and app makers automatically check these signatures and display the verified source of the image. And then the users would actually have to pay attention which means deep fakes will likely still proliferate.

I call it homosexual and of dubious provenance. Trump would NEVER lose the chance to have cops drag and handcuff him. It's priceless marketing material.

He knows nothing but him being hung in the town square will satisfy the leftist mob.

He's seeing just how far they'll push this, which is why he keeps reminding his voters that he's not the real target, they are, and he's just in the way.

If the powers that be are willing to do this to a former President, what will they do to you?

Trump, don't turn yourself in, make them cross state lines to come after you with vans of cops out of their jurisdiction and create a huge spectacle that embarrasses the Dems and New York while making you a martyr. That's how you play this. Giving yourself up just makes their joke charges look legitimate.

Here's the thing, he said Tuesday.

If it wasn't Clown World, I'd be willing to bet that the NYC DA would be willing to wait till Tues.

But it's Clown World.

And this is a long weekend, and that's 5 days away.

Plenty of time of the NYC DA to make another dumb mistake and decide that Trump doesn't get to set the stage, that he doesn't get to call the shots, and have him arrested in Florida.

All the claims of him turning himself in are sources familiar with the matter and I think one publication names one of his lawyers.

Who knows what will happen between now and then. But if Trump does turn himself in, I expect them to set up a perp walk anyway.

I will never get this take. Like did you want Trump to be in prison and removed from office that badly? They want Trump to take responsibility, so they can remove him from politics. Also, everyone saying this is ignoring that Trump has spoken out against their treatment and has said he will give support when back in office. People forget how much the Rinos were threatening Trump over Jan 6.
