I love how these people love to yell about freedom of speech when the issue clearly isn't flag burning, but a father being abused for free money by a bunch of panhandlers.
Also, freedom of speech doesn't work that way. You have the right to freedom of expression but that is only enforceable against the State and public bodies or people or organisations carrying out a public function in the course of their duties. So if you're arrested for saying something boneheaded, that's most likely an infringement of your human rights but if you post about how your boss is a cunt on Facebook and get fired when they find out, that isn't (thought it might, depending on local employment laws and the terms of your contract of employment, give rise to other redress outside of public law.)
Also, freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from the consequences. If you say something boneheaded and lose out from some sort of opportunity or suchlike as a result, your freedom of speech has not been curtailed because you were never prevented from saying that boneheaded thing in the first place.
Back on topic, have you also noticed that with SJWs it's only free speech when they do it. If one of them gets up and shouts about how black lives matter, and someone takes umbrage to them and heckles them, they're being OFFENSIVE and TRAMPLING ON HUMAN RIGHTS and COMMITTING LITERAL VIOLENCE AGAINST POC, when in reality the heckling is little more than puerile attention seeking. But when Trigglypuff shouts and flaps her arms at Christina Hoff Sommers, that's sticking it to the kyriarchy and is Transgressive and Brave and Revolutionary, and isn't in any way puerile attention seeking.
This is what happens when you see everything in a hierarchy of privilege and oppression. This is also why your average online feminist will get really bent out of shape if you call them out for ignoring institutionalised misogyny in the Middle East and Africa (FGM, forced marriages, gender apartheid in Saudi Arabia, etc.) Because the Third World is oppressed, criticism of things that happen there is racist because you're applying Western values to a non-Western culture.)
(Which in itself is rather racist, to be fair. Smacks of the whole White Man's Burden thing. The Third World is less civilised so we have to indulge them; the soft racism of low expectations.)
And this is why Leah Albee and her mates are hypocrites. They seem to think that because they're somehow oppressed (which they aren't, they're wealthy white folks from upper middle class families) they are entitled to stuff. Newsflash - they're not. Most of the people who are criticising her are less well off and actually have to work for a living and don't have the luxury of time to go on insipid flagburnathons about nothing in particular or wealthy parents to pay for their existence, while she has probably been employed by Dr Dad because he reckons that she couldn't hold down a job anywhere else and is probably right.
The need to be oppressed is why I'm skeptical somewhat as to whether many of these Tumblrinas are TRUE AND HONEST transpeople.
