I don't know how this band is still allowed to exist. The main guy in the band thinks songwriting can be done with formulas and spreadsheets! This probably explains their Olympic goldmedaling in bad lyrics, just take a look! Yeah, yeah, you liked this band as a teenager. Tell me, did you make any other mistakes when you were a teenager?
Currently, Weezer is in the process of releasing EP number three of a four EP series called "SZNZ", so who knows how much worse they can get. Feel free to talk about how much you hate (or if you're really crazy, like) everyone's favorite nerdy band.

What's with these homies dissing my girl? Why do they gotta front?

if you don't think this is the pinnacle of lyricism then get out of my face

blue album is good. everything else they've ever done sucks

Pinkerton is the superior album. Fantano can suck my cock.
Pinkerton's a meme album, a contrarian for contrarian's sake favorite, something you say is your favorite to troll Rivers Cuomo (who for decades despised the album's failure for derailing his dreams of rock and roll stardom, fortune, and pussy grabbing) and a garbage album save for "The Good Life"; which is the only good song on the record.

The only thing worse than Pinkerton is "Beverly Hills", which is arguably the worst song ever produced by Weezer and a song that basically represents the band going full sell-out with regards to Rivers outright stating he's only in it for the money and chicks and his entire facade is nothing more than a con game to get laid.

Late and gay response, but weezer had never been good since the first two albums. They were never taken seriously since the 90's as mainly Rivers wanted to be hardcore, and edgy, and derived from that personality alone after the blue album's success and the public perception of how everyone saw them as a nerdy band, enough alone dissatisfied Rivers and pulled a 180 on the entire perception of pouring out your personal and reclusive feelings (yes, even thoughts about an allegedly underaged Japanese school girl touching herself) as a half-assed attempt to be taken too seriously but of course failed then.

Post-Pinkerton was just bomb after bomb, because everyone then didn't want to see some grown 30-year-old sperg bitch and complain about himself (honestly could have been a lolcow during the Green and Maladroit albums due to the shit and backlash he got from fans, even going after them with the whole "GAYGAYGAYDISNEYGAY", inside joke but that's if people really give a shit about weezer which they don't). Thus, he shifted the band's focus to pop music, creating music that was immediately appealing to the younger crowd while abandoning their previous style which fans obviously felt betrayed. Even with half-assed attempts, like EWBAITE, White, and OK Human, Rivers destroyed ruined his band image with this direction way before Pinkerton was released.

Make Believe was going to be a "darker album" much like Pinkerton at the time when Rivers was soy-ed the fuck out depressed about everything. The whole reason Beverly Hills existed was that Rivers decided to fucking act like Jesus, and changed his life around, going back to college, and accepting religion... midway through the album's production. The album became a mess with shitty pop songs, in between depressing shit destroying any reputation the band had garnered from fans.

Doesn't it suck when a band peaks very early, sometimes as early as their very first album?
Such is the case with Weezer. As some other kiwis pointed out, they never did anything better than The Blue Album. How lucky do you get to be when your debut album is produced by Ric fucking Ocasek, your first singles get decent rotation on the radios and on MTV, and the music video for Buddy Holly is considered such a breakthrough that it came with the Windows 95 installation CD to test its multimedia features?

Afterward, yeah, fame went up Rivers Cuomo's head. At least he didn't flounder in drugs, I guess. I still kinda like Pinkerton, but I agree it's a weird beast of an album. I never found El Scorcho or Across the Sea all that good, whereas The Good Life and Why Bother are far superior.
Every other release of theirs is basically "Two or three decent songs, and the rest is disposable filler". Sometimes not even that. Such is the fate of bands that peak early. (See also: Oasis, Korn, Filter, Bush, Boston, etc.)

Last I heard of them was when Rivers decided to learn coding and dump all things Weezer on a self-made streaming service. Wonder how that went.

The only bad song on Pinkerton is Butterfly. They've been shit since those first two albums though.

Not all for acoustic songs neither… but Tragic Girl from the b-side could had been more of a ending to an already depressing album.

The Blue album is the best one, Pinkerton is ok. Their best song is "you gave your love to me softly" by a billion miles. Most of their shit is milqtoast garbage and is whatever.

Maladroit is a better album than Pinkerton.
