Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

This is amazing. It's not like he could claim the information is hard to research; CPG Grey did several easily-plagiarised videos about the UK's constitutional arrangements more than a decade ago jesus christ, or he could have mashed together random bits of Jay Foreman's videos on the same topic and still made more sense than whatever this is.

But at least he made sure to note that we spell defence with a c. So he got that much right.

I looked up the bottom picture. It sure as fuck isn't downtown Houston.

It's actually an outdoor mall addition to First Colony Mall, a very suburban mall (surrounding by surface lots) in a very suburban area. (While I can't find the exact perspective, you can see The Blue Fish, the restaurant in the background here, as well as the rust-colored canopies). This was already pointed out by someone else yet for some reason you doubled down on it as an example of "walkable cities".

Despite this amazing show of retardation, you have given an excellent example of what bugmen think they want. Given how many people on /r/fuckcars unironically cite Disney theme parks as an example to their vision (or to a lesser extent, touristy but impractical areas like the Venice islands), they really don't want "walkable cities", they want to live in a shopping mall. Walkable, sterilized, convenient...hell, if you count something like The Domain in Austin, it includes grocery stores, apartments, and Amazon AWS offices, a perfect package for your bugmen needs.
See a mall, which are still very active in Utah, is a nice place to visit, good for dates and finding small niche shops- got my phone repaired there. Living in anything like that would drive me nuts. They would eventually charge you to use the water fountains. And it would only remain safe as long as the police kept it that way and shoved cameras EVERYWHERE. And like a mall, no guns allowed I bet.
Apparently, crime is due to systemic issues unique to the United States.

For someone who doesn’t care about America, he certainly spends a lot of time hating on it. You can’t blame his fans for thinking he’s passionate about American urban design.

I'm able to make a argument about crime that doesn't even mention the blacks: disarmament. Look at Chicago. Stricter gun laws than Commiefornia. Yet shootings are rampant. Why? People basically can't own guns despite everyone outside Chicago owning a shotty. I know, I was a proud country hillbilly as a young kid before we moved. Crime is low in the country yet high in the city. What changed is the gun ownership. Even a shitty .380 Hi-Point is better than nothing but a wood broom when your apartment gets raided for the 5th time in a week by the bad guys WITH guns.

It's a shame really. Knowing Better used to be good. Well at least he made that one good video about Columbus. Which he then partially retracted because some other Internet retard called him out for *gasps* defending hecking evil Columbus. Ok, nevermind he wasn't really ever good.

There was another one, I can't remember the topic, where he quoted a value for the average wage in the usa has a figure half of what it actually is; presumably to make it look worse in comparison. He's trying to manipulate opinion in service of his politics. Or he's just a moron.

The wage in the US is pretty solid all things considered, and if you have skills, you can move up with enough experience. It's not a caste system like India, as much as the Urbanists want it to be. And there's many places to live depending on your wage, which is something they don't consider. Arkansas is not New York in terms of housing prices, you can do more with less.

Reading between the lines indicates that Jason is actually fully subscribed to the "blacks cause crime" theory, after all, he's the one that fled to the white area in the white country. That's why he's been vague and can't simp for BLM and "racist suburbanites", just brushing it off as "systemic issues". For very obvious reasons, he can't go full /pol/ and declare that the 1960s civil rights push was the death knell of public transit in the United States.

He literally went full NIMBY. Thing is I'd say it's a combination of factors, just living in that area. Poor economic development after the Civil War can still be seen to this day, both in white and black neighborhoods. Also rampant alcoholism. Hard to build a road when everyone is drunk, and easy to get into trouble, especially when basic starter jobs are hard to find to keep idle hands from becoming tools of the devil and all that.

I've seen that american lefties like to ignore the fact that western europe has an average wage about 25-40% lower than the usa and the tax burden is harder on the poor because of high taxes.

Europe gets to live life easy because they put pennies into defense. I don't get Healthcare or new trains, because the money gets shipped over there. And they wonder why our infrastructure is old

The standard of living is lower and most of it outside the northwest is poor. Didn't obama give you healthcare? Surely you can console yourself with all the zeroes in your bank account?

He forced you to sign up by fining you if you didnt- get poor taxed bitch. Trump took that out. And I got very few zeros in my account lol. Housing prices are crazy where I'm at. In fact that's most of the US anymore.

>saves billions in defense because Uncle Sam is a fucking simp
>still have lower standard of living than Americans
>still have the nerve to look down at americans with a straight face

Holy shit Eurocucks really are subhuman.

Is it too cruel to suggest that Western Europe deserves a total land war?

You know, back a year or two ago when I found out about these guys I more or less agreed with it. At one point I even got unreasonably upset over the fact that UTA's rail service is only limited to the SLC area. Over time however I've come to resent these whiny faggots. After lurking through most of this thread I've come to the conclusion that bugmen truly are the devil. I hope they truly do see the USA as "muh lost cause" just so they can stop seething about it and leave us the fuck alone. Clearly they're not to that point however because every other post they make is WHATABOUTAMERICA!!!!!!!!

Well yeah. Of course it's more complicated than that. Even if Jason was more honest with himself and came out as a full racist, he still falls into the trap that urbanists like to push--their history of cities is so oversimplified that it becomes wrong by definition.

You can argue that induced demand is real, that GM did push for buses to replace transit lines, and there was industry propaganda to pull people into suburbs, but there's so many other factors involved that to push those narratives is historical revisionism.

/r/fuckcars has arrested development:
I mean...he's not wrong that these people idolize college, but they're too dumb to realize it really wasn't real. If colleges were close to reflections to "real cities", they wouldn't be abandoned ghost towns during spring break and the winter holidays.

It's not fully abandoned since there are grad students working or people who are literally too poor to go home (which is going to be almost exclusively your international students), but a real functioning city (as opposed to tourist towns) doesn't clear out seasonally.

I don't even know where to start with the anime comment, though. That has several layers of stupidity.
