Long sperg: (This may be a bit too 'inside baseball'
for most of you, but I have to vent).
Last week I got an insight into how cosmopolitan Danes with a paper-thin understanding of gender bollocks think.
I've been following this Danish podcast (Det vi taler om) for a few years. It gives a weekly rundown on celebrity news, and politics, in a humorous way.
I liked it because I don't follow celebrity stuff, and this podcast would give you a short overview, without making you feel like you've actively lost brain cells in the process.
Last week there was one of those drag-queens-reads-books-to-kids things in Copenhagen. 'Sex clowns', is what I like to refer to them as.
The podcast did a little segment on it because
a few people had showed up to protest outside.
The host and co-hosts had the most shit-lib takes imaginable.
The funny thing is, this podcast isn't normally a shit-lib, nor rudderless hippy wank fest. When discussing other subjects they have mostly normal or conservative takes. This, however, was something they clearly knew fuck all about.
The host had taken her kid to one of these library troon shows a while back and thought it was delightful. Out of nowhere one of the guests on the show (he is gay) mentioned that he had performed in drag for some company gathering for grown-ups once, and in his mind that is surely the same as sex clowns reading to pre-teens in a library.
They were utterly fucking clueless. They didn't mention the word 'trans' once. They framed the whole thing as 'being nice, and more accepting towards gay men'.
I was speechless while listening, and it made me realize just how profoundly dense most people are regarding anything troon related. 40 year old men in drag reading books to small children is fucking weird, and it always will be.
One less podcast to waste my time on.
