Well that's odd. just a couple of weeks ago, people in the know were insisting that Musk had fired the people who could do this. I'm starting to think that journalists might not always be entirely honest.
 
Yes he killed the meme. It’s not that existing twitter is too incompetent to remove legacy check marks… it’s that he’s a meme killer.

Some people are saying that it was supposed to be an April Fools update, but it was pushed out too late due to the removal of legacy checkmarks. The "Elon pumps and dumps dogecoin" theory has some credible info behind it though and it did just spike today because of the logo change.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that Elon is actually getting sued upwards of 258 billion dollars because of dogecoin racketeering. Unsure if the logo change is actually just a jab at that or not.

all this is reminding me of is a Cookie Clicker knockoff with dogecoin branding from ages ago

It's a ludicrous suit. The suit is for literally 20 times DOGE's entire market cap.
