The origins are in post-colonial literature because they've deigned them as subalterns governed by the whims of the oppressor and if they so happen to as to agree with nationalist or traditional sentiments then they're as bad as the black cop in "Boyz n the Hood" (1991) just re-manifesting and re-asserting beliefs of their colonizer or sovereign's culture.
Nevermind that these general attitudes extend back into the development of agriculture and the creation of law.

I know we see this kind of thing a lot, but these people are acting very dim-wittedly. However, most of them probably aren't stupid (with the possible exception of Megan). They write like people who know what they're talking about, even if what they're talking about is utter bull. So it's worse than that. I'll reiterate: most of them probably have above-average IQs, but they are actively refusing to be smart.

Their morals dictate that they ignore things that are inconvenient to those morals being adhered to, like the fact that the other side have any morals at all.

You'd think I might find it reassuring, to know that our ideological opponents are handicapped as such. But instead, it saddens me, to know that such stupidity is approved by the masses and generally being listened to.
