Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

It is fucking hilarious that Wizards is once again shooting themselves in the foot and burning more bridges that it brings Ethan Ralph to shame. Half-breed and mixed races are some of the most popular races in D&D. Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Aasimar and Tieflings are very popular with players as, @Mr.Miyagi stated, they resonate with people who feel outcast or caught between two worlds. Now WotC are telling mixed race people that their struggles and feelings like being a outcast are racist and "problematic". This really does go to show how woke leftists are just some of the most racist people on the planet.

You have to wonder what the fuck WoTC or Hasbro is trying to cover up with gestures like this. As with increasingly everything with WoTC nowadays, Jeremy Crawford the eugenicist supremacist can kiss my stinkditch.
don't even think it's a cover-up, just the woke ouroboros in full force. like glowies making shit up to justify their budget increases, "sensitivity readers" need to constantly have more shit to chimp out about to justify their existence (otherwise hasbro might think their writers are woke enough on their own already). even if it is something as retarded as labeling everyone with a mixed heritage racist.

They are already injecting lots of Woke into the setting for 2e. And Paizo has started back into 5e modules in earnest to attract the 5e crowd.
More people who shouldn't be playing non-narrative TTRPG play 5e than any other system I'll give you that without reservation. And people in most 5e games are having bad expectations set that will take a lot of unlearning and enhanced filtering. Honestly just say in your game advert that Tabaxi are banned and that removes the furries who are 90% of the bad players (lol j/k no one will read your campaign advertisement)

If you like PF that's fine, play what you like; but saying its some anti-woke bastion is just lunacy. Giving Paizo money is still giving money to people who hate you.
there's a big difference between "anti-woke" and "very little in the game itself", which is true (inb4 play test shit that got scrapped and moved for the final release). the 5e stuff is simple business, dnd IS the biggest brand in the market, trying to sell stuff to those plebs is common sense profit (especially if you compare paizo's adventures to the stuff wotc craps out).
haven't read/played all of the 2e stuff, besides wakanda hogwarts there isn't really anything "woke" on the surface.

if you play 4e without paying for it might as well pf2 without paying for it, unless "playing=supporting" and wotc are absolutely the bigger retards when it comes to woke. paizo so far has never messed with their old books, you can still get all the old stuff just fine.

TL;DR: The next edition is going to be the horrible offspring of corporate middle managers who only care about money and woke sensitive readers who only care about their own influence.

My favorite characters were all mixed race.

“Waaahhh we’re paid shills and we’re catching a lot of shit for our shilling. :(“ God, what pieces of shit. They don’t have to peddle garbage and I hope their 6th edition shit dies. Even if they didn’t push the diversity bullshit their attempts to control community content is reprehensible.

There's probably a specialized Modern/Spyguy OSR somewhere. I know Silent Legions is modern (though it's horror) and there's a Stars Without Number but Cyberpunk coming out soon (With a preview edition available wherever).
If you have time to read and do some work in the VTT there's a dedicated espionage RPG called Black Seven that focuses on stealth system I forgot the details about but I know it was pretty light.
There are the spycraft rpgs and other modern d20 systems.

"muh mental health" "muh community feelings" "muh support structures" "muh inclusivity"

This is one of the most helpless bitch made things I've read in a while and the fact that I can't tell whether it's some rainbow haired landwhale alt-girl writing these or a dude who sweats soy is a sad state of affairs. That black dice society thing physically hurts to read and I can't be the first person that immediately imagined some jive talkin dudes in the 70s throwing rocks in an alley somewhere, which sounds way more based than what this actually is.

Where's "muh fun" and "muh good game"? Ah, right. Making a fun game is not their priority anymore.

What rights are granted to VTT creators? We need to maintain ownership of our works.
We've heard this message lout clear -- your content is your content. I don't know what the language is to make that official because we're a ways from that, but we hear loud and clear: your content is your content.
"We will just claim a perpetual, irrevocable license to use your content if it is actually good."

When creators are constantly taking the hits on behalf of WotC because we're the people people can access. It takes a toll and wears on us. Are you putting together mental health and support resources because we need them.
We're working on this within the company but it's different when it's outside the company. Send us your suggestions for how you can be supported. These are hard questions. I understand the concern about being targeted online. We've had that happen to our own team members. it does stake a toll. I've seen it on their faces. it's a super difficult problem without a straightforward answer.
When you raise the shield for WOTC, expect to take the hit for WOTC.

Employees have access to mental health resources and support. We as freelancers don't. it's become toxic. We're here because we love this game. it feels like you don't have our back and we need you to.
Thank you for sharing that so openly.
"Help me, corporate daddy! You're my only hope!"

I heard alot of the people invited to the summit asked about the VTT they showed off. Asking about the pricing and PC specs to run it because alot of them will want to stream it while playing.

WOTC said they have no idea yet on both.
RPGPundit said that they were using expensive gaming PCs at the demo. Maybe it runs fine on a battered 2017 ThinkPad, but they won't be able to justify a high subscription cost to DMs if there aren't a lot of resource-hungry embellishments.

Diversity bullshit and community control go hand in hand. Wizards will undoubtedly have a list of concepts and themes which will be banned or subject to some kind of moderation if the VTT takes off—if they don't have one already. Homebrew/3P workarounds simply won't be allowed to propagate through the parts of the gaming ecosystem which Wizards controls.

Wait so they're getting rid of half-races but are keeping tieflings? So you can be part demon but can't be part elf?

The fuck are these people doing?
Tieflings and Dragonborn aren't considered "half" races, they're supposed to be completely normal people whose ancestry includes either dragons or demons, and I'm sure Wizards will keep pushing the angle that tiefling in particular should not be discriminated against. After all, it would be mean to punish people for things their long-dead ancestors did- oh, wait.

Yeah, they didn't think any of this through.

You know this kind of reminds me of when Paizo decided to announce that there would be NO MORE SLAVERY in Golarion and THERE NEVER WAS EVER. Just this really weird pointless gesture that no one asked for and ruined a bunch of their lore. I think Wrath of the Righteous released a couple of years later and there's just a straight up slave market in the Abyss (as there should be) complete with evil options to fuck over slaves (as there should be). After some quick googling it looks like they very quietly walked it back after getting their precious attention.

WotC might have a harder time walking back the half-elf/half-orc thing just because they have more eyes on them. If I had to guess they'll probably just quietly add 'human ancestry' to elves and vice versa without saying a word. Whatever works I guess.
