I just read her reply to the backers on Kickstarter:

"I would ask you to understand, Gamergate is currently harassing our studio over our ship date."

If by "harassment", you mean "pointing out that i'm months behind", then yes they are, Bri-Bri. Stop making it sound like GamerGate is surrounding your house and threatening to blow it up if you release Rev60.

"But, for us, this Kickstarter was for $10,000 - a fraction of a fraction what it cost to develop"

So why not ask for the full amount right off from the start? That's like telling someone you want to make a cake, and only asking for flour and eggs, but not sugar or the other needed ingredients.

"I ended up at the hospital with an infected lung - unable to breathe"

Sure, Jan.

"I have to get my strength back to do press."

What press? Sending some lame pre-typed out press release? Who's going to fucking interview you anyway? You've used up your goodwill with the SJW gaming journalist circlejerk by sperging out too many times.

Just admit that GSK is just you and Frank now, and you're barely getting shit done because you don't know fuck-all and would rather waste your time shooting him in the face with foam bullets.

I'm pretty sure the kickstarter was conceived as a publicity stunt. Frank was financing the whole thing anyway, so it isn't like they needed the money, and I'm pretty sure they were going to do the PC port whether or not the kickstarter succeeded.

This was back when the plan was to turn the PC port around in a few months after the iOS release. To be fair, Maria did actually get the PC port done more or less on schedule given the slips in the iOS version. Then everyone left and BriBri was left running the show with no restraining hand, so here we are two years later with still no R60 in sight, and the kickstarter being a major albatross around her neck.

It's only been a week or two since that message to the backers. Since then, Wu has sperged endlessly about gun control, Hillary, Blue Apron meals, and the endless amount of video games she's been playing. She has enough of her "strength" back to do lengthy walks around the neighborhood for Pokemon Go, prepare dinner, and write editorials on things that don't relate to her at all.

However, she just lacks the power to press that "Launch Game" button on Steam or mention her game at all.

Bingo. Wu never counted on actually having to give a damn about the Kickstarter, because he saw it like he does his Patreon, an ego boost with no expectation of having to actually produce content.

Unfortunately, he has learned Kickstarter isn't as lax as Patreon, and now he just wishes it would go away.

And after the Twitch Stream of Fail, he can't release the game now, it'll be sodomized on Steam and he knows it.

The only option he has left is play for time, which means more lulz for us as this trainwreck continues it's slow-mo to hell ride.

I think that a refund is plausible.

The next step for the backers is to actually sue Brianna Wu. This would take just one of them, and it would be a very public act--and an undeniably bad place for Wu to be. Wu has publicly blown the release date over a dozen times, so the case would be easily proved--however, this means that one of her backers has to pissed off enough to do this.

There are several ways this could go, but ultimately Wu has to make the calculation to give the monies back. If she gets sued for a refund, her former backer is going to have an ironclad case that she's not been honest. And while Wu can try to manage this in a quiet way, this is a spoiled brat that threw someone's Ipad because they spilled her drink.

It's ultimately going to be Frank Wu who decides to just pay people off. He's smart enough to know that Brianna won't win the court case and perhaps worse, that she could easily perjur herself and run afoul of criminal laws. He's not going to want to pay, OTOH, he can afford $10,000--if it came down to Wu being completely destroyed as a public figure (which, to put it mildly, isn't far off if she's getting hit with lawsuits) he's invested many times that money into Rev60.

There definitely will be a play for time aspect on this. Brianna Wu is still getting Patreonbux and delaying the inevitable means more money. But she's got no answers for a lawsuit other than simply agreeing to give a refund, and with it some kind of admission that she's under so much harassment that she's entirely unable to make Rev 60.

I would love to see a backer sue Wu, and I think that's where the refunds begin.

The "Phoenix Wright Saga" is never happening, people. No one is going to take days out of their life to get back $10 they threw away on some tweaker with an inside-out wang.
And even if they do it all in small-claims court without an expensive lawyer, it costs $40 just to file the suit in Massachusetts. It would be a money-losing venture on top of everything else for the majority of backers.

Agreed. The best outcome out of this is that the KS backers get more and more pissed off, leading to more scrambling by John to get the game "released" or do stupid shit like a live Twitch stream.

So because Wu brought up black female Iron Man repeatedly, I thought I would take this moment, as a frequenter of /tg/, to grind it's artist into the dirt until he cries. This is because Social Justice Sci-Fi just ran into /tg/'s favorite sci-fi, and the latter always wins. But this battle will not be won by the fa/tg/uys and ca/tg/irls of the internet, oh no - this one goes to Games-Workshop, who purportedly C&D'd over it.

Brace yourselves for hilarity and click the spoiler button, fellow grognards.

Apparently, in addition to the art essentially just overlaying 3D models (which looks fucking terrible) for the new Iron Man comic, the same artist used it for Space Knight Venom, where there was this fucking thing:

Your eyes are not deceiving you. Marvel did just pull a Moleman9000 and use someone else's content without permission. Those are Tau Skyray Missile Gunships. Oh, but it gets better, Kiwis, so much better, because the next image will pretty much demonstrate why Games-Workshop got itself in a dander over this:

zhqqYxa.jpg

The fucking Tau emblem, right the fuck there for everyone to see.

:story:
For some reason, I first thought that Venom-looking thing was talking to a bunch of miniatures, then my brain kicked into second gear and I realized, what I was looking at. Jesus Christ, did they rip these models straight out of Dawn of War or what? Is that what's considered comic books these days? Where half the shit in the background is rendered lazily? Dobson might have a future in comics after all.
Shit that did not happen, John Flynt edition.

In conclusion, wealthy white man John Flynt verbally assaults an older woman.

Wuwu makes up this stupid story wholesale and her "oh snap" reply is still that lousy?

true. however it may mean that bri bri cant really use kickstarter again, not with tis track record, and the current Mn9 farce that has brought kickstarter games under scrutiny recently..

lets just pray for pokemon go and a busy road...

It's never happening but I think it's a fun moment to picture Wu committing perjury and shrieking about misogyny as she gets cuffed.

That said, as the last year has shown, we don't really need Brianna to be taken to court for her to lose her reputation. She does a fine job of that by being her typical narcissistic, clueless self. Most of the people who used to indulge her fantasies have grown to hate her and/or quietly black-balled her. The people still kissing her ass on social media are the hopeless or the smaller parasites who still think there's something to gain from her. She has a couple of remaining contacts with conventions or on different platforms because of Frank but I think even they are sick of her shit.

I hope so too but I doubt anyone would want to bother.

It'd have to be someone willing to lose money to fuck with Wu. Is GethN7 a Kickstarter backer? Any True & Honest Fans willing to crowdfund a lolsuit?

If the Kickstarter was just for publicity, and Frank always had the funds to fund the PC port, then there's really no excuse for the constant delays of Rev60, aside from the fact that it is a bug-riddled mess as demonstrated by the live stream Wu-wu did a while back.

It would really have to be a class action and nobody is bothering with a class action for less than hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars.

More likely they just harass Kickstarter until Kickstarter starts asking where's the game, John. And then Wu looks marginally shittier and finds it somewhat harder to pretend to be a "game dev" with that bad PR.

Pretty much. The best case scenario is that whatever tattered shreds of his "game dev" reputation that still exist are utterly immolated. In fact, they pretty much are at this point, he's just too stupid to throw in the towel.

No, Geth is not a backer, but he did advise those that were to ask Wu pointed questions about what he's done with the money.

I don't think Brianna is ever going to release the game. There is nothing to gain from it. I would assume she's played enough actually good games to know deep down hers is a horrible mess. She knows it will get savaged online rightly or wrongly, but definitely rightly. It would be such a huge blow to her ego and cred.

As it is now without a public vetting of her one golden accomplishment, she can exist indefinitely in the grey area where she can proudly proclaim herself "game developer", "software engineer", "internet celebrity", "expert on all things", and no one questions her. She releases the game, all that changes. So, the game is never getting released. And it will all be because gamergate
