Seeing as we have a thread on MatPat and Game Theory now, I think it's fitting we have a thread for all of the other YouTube channels who have managed to overstay their welcome despite having large amounts of subscribers or even being verified. These channels often know they're dying and will do anything to keep their cash flow coming in. The signs of this become obvious, from adding new and often hardly related "shows" to your channel:

To making awkward attempts at crossing over into "traditional" media, often with at best poorly received results:

Despite all this, these cows rarely let their milk slip to the public. This is not because none is being produced, but because they can afford PR people to clean their messes. Sometimes though, that doesn't work out as planned, and they'll send out a passive aggressive message or two before their handlers can stop them. One famous example was Ian from Smosh (with 22 million subscribers) leaving this response to a negative review of his film:

You hardly need me to explain this life cycle though. Here's Mr. Shane Dawson, one of the biggest sell-outs on this site, singing a song that seems to be projecting more than a little bit;

I'd say Pewdiepie has definitely overstayed his welcome. I guess maybe people might think he's still funny, but ever since he became involved with god-awful YouTube Red he really seems to have jumped the shark. He went from a sweet guy who said that "YouTube isn't really a career, it's something fun I do while I figure stuff out" to someone who takes his girlfriend on luxury trips and has brand sponsorship because of YouTube bux.

Anyone remember Fred? Me neither.

I'm surprised that anything's been uploaded to the FRED channel after that Yuksung thing in 2014, though it's been almost a year since their last video.

The creator of Fred, Lucas Cruikshank, uploads frequently on his channel "Lucas", where he talks about whatever. I assume his usual shtick is that he's gay. I'd be surprised if anyone who isn't a long-time Fred fan watches any of his new videos.

Was that the guy that kinda sorta looked like James Rolfe? Because that's all I remember about him.

I only did very small searching, but What The Buck was some show by Michael Buckley that discussed pop culture and gossip. It's been around since 2006 and was really popular at one point.

Apparently he ended What The Buck very recently on July 1st, not surprised I didn't hear anyone talk about it.

I wouldn't say YouTuber, but the Escapist's YouTube channel is literally just Zero Punctuation now. The last non-Yahtzee video was almost 2 years ago.

Even if he wasted it sperging on twitter, Movieblob got out at a pretty good time.

A lot of them to me seem that they're trying so hard to be relevant again like back in the 2000's or whatever year was their prime year of stardom that it just comes out half assed, something that the fans of their content don't want or some clickbait garbage. It seems that a lot of them can't seem to accept that they had their moment/fame and they may not be relevant like that again or have half of the impact that they had the first time around.

I Hate Everything.
His format has barely changed at all, and with the exception of being associated with Adam Johnston and Ralph Sepe (and a couple other folks) he really isn't doing anything different which would indicate a drop in content or desperate attempt to glom onto trends and memes.

he needs to do more search for the worsts that aren't current movies though
