I think it's more along the line that those woman can't shake their belief that femininity (being a woman) is inferior. So in their eyes when a "superior" male agrees to stoop to the level of "womanhood", it comforts those women that THE MAN is willing to experience what the lowly female beings goes through, so validating, so stunning and brave! A bit like those sad wives that brag on reddit and fawn over their husbands who does the dishes sometimes, as if "omg my partner in marriage does not treat me like a maid and takes a share of responsibilities in the household!" is somehow inspiring.

FTMs and the typical reasons they express for transitioning ("I don't feel like a woman, it sucks to be sexualised in my teens and not taken seriously, I just want to wear comfortable clothing and not be judged.") hits hard and exposes their deepest fears.
