Tennessee’s GOP-led House votes to expel Democrat Justin Jones from legislature for his role in gun protest - You Get What You Fucking Deserve!

Black politician behaving like a nigger.

Tennessee’s GOP-dominated House on Thursday voted to expel Democratic Rep. Justin Jones from the Legislature for his role in a protest calling for gun control following last week’s shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville that killed six people, including three children.

Fox 17 Nashville reports that Jones was sanctioned for using a bullhorn when he joined with protesters, which state House leaders called "disorderly behavior."

House lawmakers are also considering ousting Democratic Reps. Gloria Johnson and Justin Pearson. Last week, the trio of Democratic lawmakers chanted back and forth from the chamber floor with gun-control supporters packed in the gallery.

Thursday’s 72-25 vote marked an extraordinary move from lawmakers that has been executed only a handful of times since the Civil War. Most state legislatures possess the power to expel members, but it is normally reserved as a punishment for lawmakers accused of serious misconduct, not as a weapon against political opponents.

"We are losing our democracy. This is not normal. This is not OK," Pearson told reporters. The three "broke a House rule because we're fighting for kids who are dying from gun violence and people in our communities who want to see an end to the proliferation of weaponry in our communities. And that leads to our expulsion? This is not democracy."

Ahead of the expected vote, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called the expulsion "shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent."

Thousands of people flocked to the Capitol to support the Democrats, cheering and chanting outside the House chamber so loudly that the noise drowned out the proceedings.

The trio held hands as they walked onto the House floor Thursday morning, and Pearson raised his fist to the crowd during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Offered a chance to defend himself before the vote, Jones said the GOP responded to the shooting with a different kind of attack.

"We called for you all to ban assault weapons, and you respond with an assault on democracy," he said.

The calls for expulsion, which requires a two-thirds majority, stem from the attack at the Covenant School. Johnson, Jones and Pearson chanted back and forth from the chamber floor with gun-control supporters who packed the gallery.

Republican Rep. Gino Bulso said the three Democratic representatives "effectively conducted a mutiny."

"The gentleman shows no remorse," Bulso said, referring to Jones. "He does not even recognize that what he did was wrong. So not to expel him would simply invite him and his colleagues to engage in mutiny on the House floor."

Any expelled lawmakers would be eligible for appointment back to their seats. They would also be eligible to run in the special election. And under the Tennessee Constitution, lawmakers cannot be expelled for the same offense twice.

Republican Rep. Sabi Kumar advised Jones to be more collegial and less focused on race.

"You have a lot to offer, but offer it in a vein where people are accepting of your ideas," Kumar said.

Jones said he did not intend to assimilate in order to be accepted. "I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to make a change for my community," he replied.

Many of the protesters traveled from Memphis and Knoxville, areas that Pearson and Johnson represent, and stood in a line that wrapped around the Capitol building to get inside.

Protesters outside the chamber held up signs that said, "School zones shouldn't be war zones," "Muskets didn't fire 950 rounds per minute" with a photo of George Washington, and "You can silence a gun ... but not the voice of the people."

Quite the contrary, nigga. You experienced exactly what democracy means. Suck it.

Jones said he did not intend to assimilate in order to be accepted.
You cannot be accepted without assimilation. This is true in science and nature just as much as in society.

They let the crazy white cunt stay? Why? She should be out too.
The Republicans have 75 seats and the Democrats have 22 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, for her to stay a few Republicans must of crossed the party lines somewhere and said no for her to stay. Their reward for being brave allies or whatever is making the whole thing look racially motivated and giving liberal media a narrative to spin for a week.

This is a truly a victory for retarded elephants everywhere.

What a fascinating turn of events. First, Tenessee booze companies promote a troon and then this happens. I know there's no relations but its hilarious regardless.

Until Civil War II starts because of that polarization.
At that point, Balkanization is guaranteed. But if anything, the US is going to go through its own version of the Troubles as people find it too comfy to actually start tearing at each other's throats like Europe does.

Imagine giving the media an excuse to turn their golem against you so you can simp for an obese 60 year old. Everyone who voted to let her stay should be expelled too.

I don't like this at all. He had every right to protest something he disagreed with and committed no crimes whatsoever in doing so.

Using these measures as a political purge meant to punish elected representatives who commit serious crimes or gross negligence of their duties is unacceptable and nothing more than political oppression. If we keep going down this path there will be nothing left of this country, its Constitution, or its values....this tit-for-tat shit is infuriating. Pass laws if you don't like it!

Destroying the village to save it is as stupid and ignorant today as it was in Vietnam.

Ngl the last couple years (well, thousand years if you count looking back at ancient Greece and the Roman Republic) have got me thinking that maybe Democracy is a fucking stupid idea, and we all frankly deserve to be under the boot of some cruel dictator. Dunno, shit is just wack right now.
Democracy is the least-bad of all the imperfect and corrupt systems we've come up with for managing large groups of people within a nation.

I'm all ears for ideas, but, most of them offer no guarantee of not ending up worse than what we've got.

He was a member of the House, he could've waited his turn, been given the literal floor, and said whatever he wanted, good or bad, about guns.

Instead, he shouted-down everyone else who were patiently waiting their turns like civilized people because fuck the rest of the state, his views are obviously the only important ones, and we're just drooling mongoloids if we can't see it, I guess?

This expulsion was not for using the wrong fork for the salad at dinner, it was for disrupting the by-the-book operations of a legislature for no reason other than rampant vanity.

Having the power he was legally granted to influence the government obviously wasn't enough for his ego and he felt entitled to more.

He can get bent.

The left needs broken of this bad habit of theirs that they can break whatever rules they like since they're on the Right Side of History (tm).

Gotta disagree, fren.

The legislator grossly violated the rules of decorum and order by using a megaphone during a protest on the legislative floor. I could see sparing the guy if he just used his voice but the actions with the megaphone was egregious.

"It's not cancel culture, it's consequence culture!"

Disrupting official proceedings is a felony. If they can hold grandmothers in jail indefinitely without trial or legal counsel for that, they can give the boot to public servants who act like clowns for it, too.

It's not tit-for-tat, it's equal application of the law. Hell, these bozos are getting off lightly, considering they aren't having them arrested. This is more than what Republicans have done the rest of the time, where they throw their hands up and say, "we can't hold the Dems accountable, because Muh Principles and we have to lose with dignity!"

There's nothing to save. If someone is punching at you, you don't whine about how it's "unfair" and say "imagine if things were reversed!" You punch back.

Violating the rules of decorum doesn't get you expelled from the legislature.

Then charge him with a felony, don't play procedural games to purge your political opponents. If the Democrats did after a Republican representative protested an abortion clinic or drag queen story hour, everyone here would be going absolutely apeshit.

Don't you see this is the exact same thing they did to the J6 protestors, that guy who posted those Hillary memes and Trump?

Stand up for this country, its Constitution and its values or it will degenerate into a hell you haven't even begun to see the depths of.

So tit for tat.

Not sure how I feel about this tbh. Either we embrace the chaos equally and further watch US politics go from a circus to a destruction derby, or embrace establishment politicians wielding their power in more and more undemocratic ways in the name of “order”. TN kicked out a dem, but what keeps places like CA doing that to a GOP or just anybody they don’t like that day? It’s a bad precedent either way — more anarchy or increased statism.

At least the coping and seething will be funny if this expands to other states. Gotta laugh at clown world if anything.

Let them. Tear off the band-aid. What purpose does the CA GOP serve anyway? More controlled-oppo Zombie Reaganism? Ahnald? Bruce Jenner?

Why contain it? Let it spill over the senate and house, let the expelled politicians pile up in the streets. In the end they'll beg the rwds to save them.

"procedural games" - following what the bylaws of an organization actually say you can do

A dictatorship, with me as the dictator. I guarantee it won't be worse because just look at my reaction score. Would such a well-respected Kiwi be a bad dictator? Not likely.
