Most companies are very careful to not say why they're not hiring you. Just "we've chosen someone else." A law firm would be especially careful to not say anything legally actionable.

What strikes me as odd in this whole situation is that Rusty has always had trouble with communication. If he struggled with face to face communication, it would be far worse on the phone, especially if he can't gesticulate. Either he's bullshitting everyone or he probably got yes'd to death on the phone by the poor individual who had to handle him.

His AGT suit made clear something we'd suspected for a while. He literally thinks it's illegal to tell him no due to his face. He flat out said he was expecting (and entitled to) special treatment from AGT and was mad they treated him like every other contestant, which is what the law actually requires.

The ADA requires more than just “like everyone else” in particular circumstances - for example, if you don’t reasonably provide wheelchair access to the stage you could get sued or something. It also allows for requiring businesses to do things to help overcome a disability so you can do your job - providing text to speech equipment or whatever.

Nowhere does it turn disability into a “you must always do whatever the disabled want”. In fact; a defense against a ADA suit is that even with assistance the disabled person couldn’t do the job; a quadriplegic not hired as a fireman won’t win a suit.

Russ is actually lucky that AGT doesn’t hate the disabled; if he had auditioned in front of KF we would have immediately put him live on national TV so the entire nation could experience the joy of watching a Russel Performance.
