Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

I would like to commend whoever immediately poisoned the well but dropping the photoshop, whoever it is literally invalidated this leak pretty much overnight.
The one with less casualty numbers on Russian side is obviously shopped. Why else would "600" be written as "6 00" or the casualty range be smaller on Russian side rather than Ukrainian? It's logical that Burgers would be able to count Ukrainian losses with less margin of error than Russian ones. Not to mention the blurring.

I think it's an "oldest trick in the book" Maxwell Smart, leaked by the glowies.
A set of documents that were actually drawn up by Nato. But using a version that shows a plan, that is designed to get the Russians to focus their defense in the wrong area.

They should rename that road as the "road of death", after the war.
I highly doubt the ruskies are basing their defense plans on "documents" from twitter.
Especially considering that their military satellites are probably able to locate any troop concentration bigger than an ukie bukkake party.

russia should get this war over with and set off a nuke in ukraine, cover it up by doing it in chernobyl.
Nah. Russia is actually the LESS murderous side in this conflict. Yes, imagine that.

Still makes me lol that a few of the regulars in the sister thread were going like "how come Russia isn't just carpet bombing cities?" early in the fight. Really says a lot about what the NATO cheerleaders usually expect.

I believe the Russians already called bullshit on it. I mean, there's 0 reason you'd trust something like this. Its fun for us to speculate, but its another thing when you're conducting a war.

That's the funny part. I've been told by a few people "WELL WHY DIDN'T RUSSIA JUST USE BOMBS AND ARTY AND RUSH IN HUH. THEY COULD FLATTEN IT" I've had to tell people more than once, Russia wants to annex this area, not make it a bombed out shithole. That the US did that in Iraq and Afghanistan because those are massive deserts with very little infrastructure. So it didn't matter if you dropped a trillion bombs.

But Ukraine has electricity, running water, roads and rail lines, farms....all that stuff would be destroyed if you bomb it indiscriminately. Not to mention you'd be killing the civilian population which you don't want to do. Its why Russia was hit hard at the beginning because they basically did a soft blitz like they did in Crimea and didn't expect this to happen. Its why they walked right into a buzzsaw and took a lot of losses at the beginning. And now Ukraine is dug in, so they can't really afford to blitz anymore, just slowly creep up and hope they can grind Ukraine down before they get ground down.

People like that typically believe the narrative that Putin wants all of Ukraine, which is patently false. He most doesn't want Western Ukraine for sure, which is very hostile to Russia and would probably be difficult if impossible to integrate. And that this is like WWII or some shit, when its more like WWI, an international dick measuring contest with a massive loss of life where everything is fucked and there's no 'good guys'. Of course, a war having good guys is an oxymoron. Nobody is good in war. Its the most evil thing mankind can do, and rooting for it to continue past the point of insanity makes you an inhuman monster.

Like even if Russia did, it still makes zero sense to level cities into nothing. Even when we did that in WW2 it was practically useless and we ended up spending a bunch of money to rebuild it all anyways.

But hey, never met a NATO armchair general who wasn't in favor of just bombing everything into dust and then sorting it all out later, usually with massive taxpayer spending.

Taxpayer pays for the bombs, taxpayer sheds the blood, then taxpayer pays to rehabilitate the loser. Who's the real loser?

Can somebody explain to me what the leak contains that everyone are arguing if its true or not ?
The only "important" part is a snippet discussing RUS and UA losses - especially troops KIA. The "photoshoped" piece said 17k RUS and 70k UA troops killed, the other something inverse, like 17k UA and 60k RUS losses.
Both are probably bs, and ignore the elephant in the room:
According to the NYT article, the leakers couldn't have been UA officials, because they don't have access to the documents.
Again: UA officials do not have access to the counter-offensive plans they're about to execute.
Funnily, the USA doesn't even pretend to hide the fact that pentagon is dictating the battle plans.
"proxy war" confirmed to even the dumbest motherfuckers.

Agreed. Also, "bomb into crater" isn't a cheat code unless the enemy surrenders, lest we forget Leningrad and Stalingrad in WW2.

Stalingrad with partial bombing:

Stalingrad completely bombed into moon craters:

And yet the Nazis still lost at Stalingrad.

It could be the other way around, you can easily upscale and sharpen images. AI is perfectly capable of revamping the textures of a whole game to make it look modern using nothing but blurry source material. How do I know which numbers are fake? Well's been poisoned a while ago.
You don't need AI upscaling and sharpening of images if the document is real and you are US/NATO, and you just edit the .PPT slide and "leak" it after the initial leak to muddy the waters of the undesirable information.

The US military apparatus has been going full tilt with propaganda since the very beginning of the war, it's naïve to think that they wouldn't do this reflexively and without hesitation.

Another argument against straight bombing is that this is a battle of attrition where Russia wants to deplete Ukrainian military assets and morale. If they just bomb the city, Zelensky will just pull back the UAF to more defendable positions, and be able to use the horror of a dead city to encourage more gibs from other countries. The longer the fighting takes while Russia is in an entrenched position, the more the Ukraine depletes its assets and the more the world gets disappointed in the entire war. If the Ukraine is just going to throw good men into a kill box, Russia is better served by sitting out and having woodchipper go brrrrrr.

Hot meme I just saw and thought I'd share:

I suspect the leaks may have been intentionally released by the US to be blamed on Ukraine, just like with Nord Stream.

One of the reasons why is to start softening up the public to the idea of dropping support to Ukraine, making the Ukrainian high command look like a bunch of dumb bastards (kek) who are either a) incompetent or b) ungrateful and leaked it intentionally. Another reason is that it gives Ukraine's handlers a reason to back out of the counterattack, it's propaganda for the internal audience.

It's not easy to shoot a picture from the exact same position, angle, and lighting. So you definitely need some photoshop at least to make it good.
Wouldn't it be simple to edit a line of numbers that are hard to read and replace them with a line of different numbers that are easier to read? Like how Samsung has a "super resolution" mode that that's supposed to let you take high resolution pictures of the moon, but turned out to replace blurry moons with a prepared image of the moon imbedded in the code?
