Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Some people have trouble to actually understand things that are different from their own perspective.
The Switch has replaced my desktop PC as the main platform for vidya, including 3rd-party games, because of personal convenience. Specs don't matter much for what I like.

The Japanese train game looks semi-normie in this context

Eh, I'm not a racing guy unless it's Mario or Diddy Kong or something. I do hear that's a good one for what it is.
Well, we're all really disappointed in you I'm afraid

I tried playing Diddy Kong Racing again and I could not play it. 20 years ago I could play it just fine but upon my most recent attempt I could barely stay on the track. That's a "me" problem for sure. But it was kind of interesting at the degree of skill atrophy. It was like driving on a frozen lake. I also have a lot of trouble with Mario Kart 64 nowadays. Something about that era...

You're not the only one, same shit happens to me too

I believe it's the drifting mechanic. Over the years it's been heavily tweaked to where it's pretty much perfect in Mario Karts 7 and 8. The drifting in 64 feels a bit wonky where it's like you're really not in complete control of your turns like you think you are, so you're constantly fighting with it to make sure you're not going off track, especially on those wide turns. Also doesn't help that karts aren't customizeable and each character has a unique stat specific to them, so if you're a Bowser player (like i am), you're basically playing on the hardest difficulty all the time. At least with 7/8, you can make bowser easier to handle with the different kart parts (or harder for youreself if you're a masochist)

..... Why don't you just play as a different character if you don't like the way SNES Bowser handles?

Funny thing is I've kinda had the opposite problem when it comes to racing games. Like I used to like this game called Moto Racer back on Windows 98, so then I discover that on Switch there's a Moto Racer 4... its one of those "perpetually marked down to one dollar" games so I'm immediately suspicious.... and right away I hate the way all the racers handle. But then it turns out you only have three characters at first, and the rest have to be unlocked. And some of the unlockable ones are more my style.

I hate that shit. It's like saying "you have to unlock the ability for the game to have good controls."

Nigger, you're legit retarded
>And somewhere, Skykii is still wondering why his N64 controller isn't fitting into his SNES controller port.

Question still stands though: if you don't like how Bowser GCN controls, why not just play as someone else?

EDIT: I thought putting the arrow before the text automatically colored it, but either I'm doing something wrong or that isn't how it works. Had to do it manually.

Nope, it has to be done manually. I’ve made that assumption enough times to know which is only once or twice to be fair.

Actually, I want VN recs as well... but only in like mystery genres.

I already own the two Famicom Detective Club games, most of Ace Attorney, and while there's a certain trilogy I don't own yet.... let's just say if I were a woman, I'd be an Ultra Despair Girl.

(why hasn't anyone made a Monokuma-themed Five Nights at Freddy's game yet?)

But yeah, outside of those? Has to be in English unfortunately.

Actually, it doesn't have to be a VN... anything mystery-adjascent is fine. Its fine if it involves paranormal elements too.

Have you played Paradise Killer and The Forgotten City? No idea how well they run on switch though. I've got a running list of murder mystery games but haven't gotten around to playing most of them.

Are you looking forward to Master Detective Archives: Rain Code? It's being made by Danganronpa devs.

It won't be the last time, I'm sure.

It's been forever since I played DKR, but I played MK64 more semi-recently, and I know what you mean. The controls are really not easy to work with, but that's why I gravitate to battle mode when I play it.

It wasn't until MKDD that I think the controls became good enough to enjoy the actual racing modes and not just battle.

I like the standard race modes in every game, but there are definitely different generations of Mario Kart due to overhauls in handling, especially with how drifting and mini-turbos work. SNES+N64+GBA are classic, DS is the start of modern (though mini-turbos are broken in DS specifically), and Double Dash is a weird middle ground that has a lot of its own quirks while also starting a lot of the modern mechanics.

I've been playing the Oregon Trail remake and it looks nice and the music is good but it's far too easy and also there's a bunch of niggers and also muslims for some reason. Like I get niggers but why the Hell would there be muslim women with head scarves?

It was made by a mobile games developer in some shitty Islamic country called France.

Actually all three of those names are new to me. Tho being made by the Danganronpa devs doesn't inspire confidence as apparently their last two games (Yurukill and World's End Club) kinda sucked.

I'm actually pretty new to Visual Novels. A long time ago I played thru one path of Kawata Shoujo (I wound up with the armless girl) but never revisited the genre. I like Ace Attorney. Danganronpa I watched other people play.

The only ones I own on Switch are Famicom Detective Club (haven't played yet) and this one called Reverse Memories which was literally on sale for a dollar and just sounded interesting.

Try Return to Shiroganasu Island, Centennial Case and Aviary Attorney if you like mysteries.

all this sperging about mario kart 64 and it made me pick it back up.
god i was such a shitstain kid, i never got over 50cc and never unlocked mirror mode.
well i corrected this by getting it in half an hour. almost 25 years later.

The King of Fighters XIII is getting a Switch port (alongside of PS4) with rollback netcode. No release date announced though.
This also reminds me that DNF Duel from Arc Systems is releasing on Switch this April, but I do wish Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising was ported.
For someone whos never owned a KOF game is XIII a good place to start? I've only Fatal Fury at the arcade and I just got into DarkStalkers because of the Capcom Fighting Collection game I bought for Switch last year. I suck at fighting games but I always liked them.
