Turns out this is a thing the website has:

lLZQ22H.png

It makes the site go red and black, which is a bit easier on the eyes. Doesn't change the fact that the site being entirely one vivid / bright colour makes it painful to look at.
That's such a better color scheme he should go with something like that for the game instead of that overly saturated magenta color

I've seen a pink / white colour scheme work before- osu! does it quite well by limiting the pink and mixing it with shades of blue, website here. It works because it doesn't force garish colours over the entire screen. I'm surprised YandereDev hasn't opted for a similar design, given that he clearly is aware of the game; the game's mascot is included as one of the students.

I agree though, the red / black is a much better scheme as far as "Yandere" goes. Either the developer is trying to show how much he knows about anime by referencing this, or his fetish for pink haired girls with beach balls glued to their chest is shining through.

The website would look so much better if he just darkened it.

Careful, Alex is good at stealing things. Next thing you know he'll steal that color palette for his site.

I know I'm pointing out the obvious here, but I think it's kinda nuts how many people have joined the Farms just because of this thread.

I got no complaints, of course, but I just find it funny that Yandere Simulator (and Eva himself) has so many skeptics and critics.

I was thinking about this earlier. It's probably because Eva is the perfect storm of a hateable guy; he has no redeeming qualities (he's not pretty enough to thirst-protect, he's not good at programming, otherwise talented or wealthy), hardly anyone will want to side with a skeevy loli-loving 30-year-old, and he doesn't have anything wrong with him mentally so he can't get any slack cut there. The reason he's a mess is... All on his own shoulders. And that's sad-larious.

Looks like the only people willing to put up with him are children (who don't know what he's like & only deal with him by proxy, through Lets Players) or people just as creepy and desperate as he is.

Also: does EvaXephon write up contracts for his volunteers? In that SkullGirls thread he talked about how he was scared artists would bite him in the ass if he didn't write up a contract that gives him legal rights to their work (which sounds paranoid as hell anyway), but I haven't seen any ex-volunteers talk about one.

Eva deletes all the messages posted in his chatroom every night before he goes to bed, but I took some screenshots of his chat today.

So after all those messages, he says that he doesn't care anymore. I fail to see the logic in that.

From what I can conclude some person said something about how poor his coding skills are and brought up 4chan and 8chan which pissed off Eva. The person got banned and all of their messages were deleted apparently.

Hi! Spandy4Life from the main yan sim wiki here. Nice to meet you on Tumblr! Just gotta say thank you so much for helping yandev out bc he gets so much hate for no reason...I tried telling so many anti-dev ppl that many hings against him areare out of context, or just lies. I actually made a post saying how I left the fandom, but that was because I believed the lies anti-yandev blogs make. And while some are true, ppl gotta realize that not every developer is perfect.he's gonna make some mistakes. I always go to the yan sim tag and usually all I see is hate. I am thinking of making a big post of reasons why ppl should trust yandev, or at least not hate him. I respect ppl's opinions why they don't like him
Looks like we have a relapse victim here, this should be good.

why the fuck is he so obsessed with the chans? Those sites are dogshit and the opinions of their userbases would be dogshit to follow for making a commercial game.
He views them as edgy, and they're commonly spoken about on the internet. He's all about edge as we already know, and he wants to be viewed as edgy, thus he frequently aligns himself with the chans in hopes that someone will notice how often he's there speaking chan lingo, and say out loud, "wow yandev is so cool and edgy, I hope to be like him one day"

For those talking about the easter egg... I remembered that Ubisoft did the same thing a short time ago.

When the Watch Dogs 2 new website was revelead, you could check the source code to find a trollface (ubi with le old AF memes) and a random "konami" word. If you typed the code, a bunch of blinking white skulls would appear. They're the

I know, it's not the exact same thing and maybe it just a coincidence, but its presented in such a forced and "in your face" manner. Why tell you exactly how to do it? And if he was going to explain how to do it what was the point of using the Konami code in the first place, a cheat code super famous that most savvy/older players should already know by instinct? The red screen doesn't work in the other sections and adds nothing to the site so whats the point?

It's not important or anything, i just believe he saw it online and copied the idea just for the sake of adding another easter egg.

The idea of only promoting your game on a site that literally mocks people for not pirating games is fucking amazingly dumb.

YandereDev isn't making a "commercial" game, he's making a niche game. The 'chans are what YandereDev would have imagined his game's target audience would be, although in reality it's more for edgy weeb teens in general. The 'chans have a decent history of making good niche games, the least obscure of which is Katawa Shoujo. It's a pretty good example of it's genre, it's just that that genre is nakige (crying game, a type of visual novel centered around depressing shit) so it's super hard to commercialize outside of Japan and the devs, to their credit, didn't even try.

If I had to guess I would assume YandereDev thought he'd be able to interact with 4chan like the Katawa Shoujo people did and attain a similar level of legend and use that to springboard to a real dev job.

The difference between YandereDev and the Katawa Shoujo devs is that:
  • They kept their aspirations reasonable. Making a visual novel in RenPi is much easier for hobbyist-level programmers then making an anime/Hitman/sandbox game in Unity
  • They designed by committee, with volunteer artists having a say in the game too whereas YandereDev needs total control so he can take all the credit
  • They shut the fuck up and worked and didn't add a fuckton of easter eggs to their shit instead
  • They didn't, to the best of my knowledge, blow up at 4chan being 4chan and saying shit to try to get under their skin

Well, a good chunk of the Katawa Shoujo team came from /a/ and /v/. Of course they knew that some of the locals would try to make the project crash and burn for the lulz and that chimping against 4chan was pissing in an ocean of piss.

To complete your comparaison :

  • The KS team also didn't try to shove down 'Chan culture in the game or turn it into an asspat generator. Their goal was to make an honest-to-God nakige, and they did.
  • The only time they asked for money was for the official artbook.
  • They did take time to do goofy stuff... For April's Fools only.
  • They relied on volunteers and a core team because doing everything by yourself is not really possible AND didn't scrap the whole thing when some volunteers left the ship. Something our little Alex still can't get into his thick-ass skull.

Sometimes I wish Four Leaf Studios would reform and make their own Yandere Simulator just to beat him to the punch and see him go nuclear about how "Boohoo 4Chan stole mah game".
