I got my cash grab too and also had pretty much forgotten about it as I gave up Comicsgate like a year or two ago.

Not even probably going to read it tbh. I backed Cecil at the time cause I'd gotten some laughs out of him, but honestly even back then I figured I wouldn't ever see the book.

But yeah, the shit stopped being funny a while ago and I kind of left all that shit behind. Cool that I got it but like...it's just a reminder of the cringe shit I was into 3-4 years ago lol

As an outsider, where's their slowdown coming from? Is it just the artists not drawing their shit or is it them just being painfully slow in shipping?

I think it's mostly just sloth coupled with the fact the majority of their customers don't hold them accountable for their business practices. It's become a taboo subject to call out late books because people fear being labeled antiCG.

their real problem is lateness. As in being years late with their books And that makes even the most ardent of CG supporters hesitant to back their books again. They have strayed away from the message that the customer is always right in favor of the it‘ll get done when it gets done way of doing things.

then the secondary problem is drama. CG (EVSCG especially) constantly needs drama to keep their streams entertaining. Unfortunately, that comes at the cost of alienating the audiences of the people they are beefing with.

They are slow in every single task involved in making a book possible. Writing, drawing, inking, lettering, coloring, layout, design, promotion, printing, shipping process. When it doesn't make the amount they wanted they will drag out the promotion of the book literal years fundraising. Sometimes the book itself is finished but it's just the later stages dragged out for years(!) What Comicsgate has done to their followers is created a closed environment with lowered expectations. Their audience is convinced everything outside of VanScivertown will brainwash them into being a democrat voting transsexual. So a 3 year wait for something that costs 8 times as much is acceptable to their weak minds. They are closed off to the information like that comics come out monthly (and some manga weekly) because that info comes from the outside. It's all run like a cult / marketing scam and it was ALWAYS about them making money for themselves at the expense of saying any half-truth or lying clickbait garbage that would get followers.

There's enough exceptions to keep people going, like Mike Baron's book is at the printers in a relatively reasonable time (less than a year cycle for this). But you'll find a lot more of what I described above.

Fun fact I learned today:

In the middle ages monastic scribes copied books by hand, including artistic lettering and elaborate illustrations. They performed this task every day in very harsh conditions with poor lighting, etc.

A monastic scribe averaged 3-4 pages per day. The entire Bible took about 15 months to copy and every letter and illustration on every page had to meet strictly-defined criteria.


It takes CG twice as long to shit out a 48-page cartoon book about a frog from outer space than it did the Bible in the middle ages.

That's rather absurd, I'd figure once it's done they'd get it out there and find ways of doing a second run or something.

Is there a list of who is shitty and who is good? Might be interesting to see a chart with authors, books, and how long it takes from fundraiser to ship date.
