I really feel bad for @Dr dad and the situation he is in.

Realistically, the only thing he can do is to wait for this to run its course. Let's be honest; when you're 21, you're stupid. You're fuckin' stupid. You're barely out of your teens, you're barely in the work force, you're stupid.

There's a pretty good chance she'll grow up and snap out of it. All @Dr dad needs to be prepared for is the fact that she'll probably still hold some of her current values in social justice and such, but she'll be much more moderate.

I think he can deal with that.

It's a pretty simple psychology to understand if they keep getting handed more every time the yell for more.

The mindset of the people who think there exists enough "more" in the world to eventually satisfy these people... that's the mindset I can't understand.
Consumerism at its finest.

Why did @Dr dad feel compelled to send his kid to fat camp when he himself is obese? That lies somewhere between a waste of money and hypocrisy.

He doesn't seem obese at all. He seems a little chunky, but he's what, in his sixties?

Keeping your figure at that age is really tough. And if he got hurt in the military or anywhere else down the line it can make exercising difficult. Jobs like that can do that to you. Talk to any retired cop or firefighter and I guarantee you they'll have some kind of back or leg problem which makes weight-loss exercise hard.

Leah's in her early twenties and as far as I know has no debilitating injuries. There's literally zero excuse for her to be out of shape.

1. You don't have to be Slaton-sized to be obese. What the average American considers "chunky" is still an unhealthy BMI.

2. If he has some type of injury, carrying extra weight makes it even worse. All the more reason to stay in shape.

3. Leah had to get eating habits from somewhere. Why not set a good example?

Dad-sempai isn't going to notice you. Quit white knighting.

Maybe Dr. Dad realized as he got older and fatter, that it sucks to be fat, and he wanted to try and spare his blob of a daughter a lifetime of atrocious blobbery. Everything seems to indicate that he's just a generous and loving father who is genuinely concerned for his daughter's well being.

It's like a smoker who yells at their kid when they catch them smoking. It's not hypocrisy. It's just a concerned parent who doesn't want their kid to have the same shitty habit that they've cursed their own self with.

I've seen nothing to show that Leah's portrayal of Dr. Dad as a manipulative, controlling tyrant is even close to the truth.

He let his daughter and 3 of her weirdo friends live in one of his apartments rent free, and he even employed them, and let them continue working for him even though they were unreliable, and most certainly annoying as hell. These are not the actions of an intolerant authoritarian who was bent on tormenting his daughter with fat camp.

Wow, when I last checked this thread it was on page 24. It's been a wild ride since then.

I will not discuss Leah but I will discuss my weight problems.
I had a serious back injury about6 years ago. I went from a weight of about 200 to 350 in the year I was recovering. For first 6 months could not move without significant pain mess.

Since I have worked hard to lose the weight currently weigh about 230 I fluctuate. I am a very good cook and enjoy eating.

Because of knees and back can only do low impact exercise. 5 to 8 miles a day on the elliptical at local gym.. I do the gym so I can eat cake. I'm trying to get down to 180 but it's very hard to exercise and starve at same time

If you eat cake after working out, you haven't accomplished anything. Let me teach you about macros so you can then teach your daughter.

Welcome back. Hope things are doing better for you.

Can I ask your opinion on how you feel about Leah calling someones job to try and get them fired over comments about this drama?

BTW, when you quote people and want to respond, put your answer outside the quote brackets not inside :o
