Some parents must just be retarded. Mine had me making basic stuff like scrambled eggs, toasted sandwiches, hot chocolates, steamed vegies, meatballs, pasta sauces (3 kinds) and muffins etc by about age 10. It was only a couple of years later when I learnt how to make basic stir fries, fried rice, curries, and cakes. There is no excuse for allowing your children to be reliant on other people to cook their basics. I suspect Shame just refused to learn though, because he believed he’d be a big shot Microsoft executive.

I started cooking and baking when I was 12, but that's also the time I left my mother and the family I stayed with taught me a bunch of shit, though my grandfather taught me a bit about baking breads and pastries (he also made an awesome tomato juice). While my sons don't really take much interest in cooking (they know enough to get by) my daughter loves mucking about in the kitchen with me and usually the only one allowed in there when I'm working. Been that way since she was four when I had her help dump ingredients into the bowl, she would also watch me fry stuff like like how cats will sit near the counter and watch. My wife on the other hand didn't really know how to cook or bake until nearing our first anniversary. Now she's quite good. She doesn't have to completely rely on the nanny for help. Which is good because the nanny can only cook and bake the most basic Russian meals. Still tasty though. Even when substituting almond and coconut milk for normal cream when making things like stroganoff.

I'm perfectly happy with the knowledge that I have a stable job, close friends, a healthy lifestyle, and am not a pedophile.
