𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Twitter inc no longer exists as a company, Elon rolled it into X Corp so he can move ahead with some kind of "everything" app that will run from x.com.

"Everything" being;

Musk has said he wants Twitter to offer fintech services such as peer-to-peer transactions, savings accounts and debit cards, as part of a master plan to launch an “everything app” that incorporates messaging, payments and commerce.

This is probably why US banks backed Elon to buy twitter. He's making WeChat for us round eyed fucks.
Who wanna bet many companies are not gonna use it because of the bad publicity? at least here in america.

Musk fucked up buying twitter and should've just made this X app/wechat knockoff. Given how massively famous he was even among normies and some lefties (before buying twitter and pissing off the lefty elite) tens of millions would've lined up for the beta, even pay for it, let alone companies who would've begged to be authorized vendors if only to be among the first to be in "tesla: the app".

Instead he burned like 44 billion into a short-form wordpress that never made a dime. But hey, not my money, and I still get to laugh at the biggest nuclear-level buttblasting since trump winning in 2016.
Here is the 4 min part:

(Can't seem to attach right now).
Its amazing, Musk just keeps asking for a single example of hate speech and the report just can't do it.

Ohhh goooooooooooooodddddddddddddd it was in person:

Watch the slimily brit journalscum fall apart.
This is beyond amateur hour, couldn't he simply say "I been called a britcuck faggot 500 times"? he's already lying out of his ass so whats the difference?.
these retards really believe that "lots of people agree with me therefore I'm right" is valid reasoning and have no idea how to deal with having it rejected to their face
Saw the same shit during gamergate and all 4 years of trump.

It will keep going until all the ESG and telly tax money runs out and these fuckers have to actually work to make decent content or turn out the lights and learn how to wait tables.
but it does feel like this was set-up in Elon's favor from the get-go.
Nah, they even put him in a bad angle so he looks even fatter than he is.
why would the BBC send this guy to talk to such a high profile guy who's known for his talking skills?
Cheaper most likely.
"Third-party platforms"? What do they have mind? Mastodon/Fediverse? The multiple fly-by-night Twitter clones that disappear with a bunch of investor money and user data?
Most likely other social networks like boomerbook, instathot and tiktard.

Anyway, what are those twitter clones? gab? parler? lefty versions of those?

BTW if I were elon I would ban all NPR links from twitter, every employee that has an account on twitter, and anyone even saying "NPR" gets the "its government propaganda" label next to it.
has never been challenged in any way his entire career potentially his entire life.
Journo work has been paying peanuts since huffPOS became the industry's leading biz model, which is forcing people to work for free until they get enough pageviews to be hired to do shitty listicles, same biz model buzzshit got funding for. So the result is that only rich kids get to play journo now because who else can work for free while their parents foot the bills well into their 40s so they can pretend they are doing real journalism and not.............whatever the fuck they are doing now is.

I, for one, am very, very glad that the possible launch of an American WeChat-equivalent will likely go very poorly due to who's doing it
Keep that shit in China

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this label applied to accounts doesn't actually affect the content they're allowed to post (above and beyond the ToS) right? The BBC is still free to pontificate about how what Britain REALLY needs is another 200k foreign poors with health problems and a very bad attitude towards women, they just have a little sticker applied somewhere on their page. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Speaking of Journalists and Twitter, Upper Ecehlon has been doing some work looking into bots on Social Media - including finding out most of those “Blue Wave” types may or may not just be a bot net, and it might be in the process of spinning up again. I feel like it’s an insult to call him a journalist, he actually did some work here, even if most of us would probably just go “no shit” to anyone saying this…

You’d think Elon would actually look into some of these bot claims, considering he said he wanted to deal with them…

he couldn't use the normal journo lying/editing tricks.
They will release short edits that make musk look bad and will list them on their site and the kind of retard that eats shit with a spoon will see it and believe it, because only ultra-far-right proudest boys would say otherwise
I guess these retarded liars are just used to being able to make up absolute bullshit and not get called on it.
The last time journos got called out in masse was what, gamergate?
For a while it seemed there was a new one every few days. Just to name a handful I looked at: Tribel, Hive, Spoutible, Cohost, Flote (dead?), Post, Plurk, CounterSocial.
Looking those up I can't find shit, every startup database where every single dingy "company" made by even just 1 guy is listed has nothing about these fuckers let alone who is making them or who is funding this shit.

That hive social lists one guy named brett knutson with a blurry tiny pic, a twitter account with no posts, no pic and only 2 followers and a dead personal website.

With plurk all I could find was a crunchbase profile with no pics, just a claim of a $1,000,000 / Series A from WI Harper Group, but when you go into their website there's no mention of plurk anywhere, and these investors will lists dead startups in which they invested $10k fifteen years ago, so yeah this isn't real either.

Of all the only halfway decent site its post.news, even tho the details behind their founders its also sort of murky they did get funding from Andreessen Horowitz who it wont say how much and its listed on the lump list of their site not the main portfolio list that has the good companies, you know the ones actually making money or that did make an exit, but the list will all the random startups they tossed a fiver at and disappeared.

We already have that shit here, every major chat system its backdoored to fuck except signal but spooks might have found a way around it too.

The cool features of wechat is that combined with a non-bullshit crypto you could have an entire parallel economy outside government control in a user-friendly system even the normiest of normies can use.

He's probably anti-communist, as an anarcho-syndicalist or w/e. Most of these leftist anarchist types despise the state and its power, but when faced with "fascists" they just solidarize with the tankies as required by the situation.
He has described himself as a "libertarian socialist." Parse that how you may. I am actually fairly similar to him in beliefs, both as to his linguistics and his politics, but I realize some of this shit is completely retarded. Manufacturing Consent is well worth reading though.

And they have never recovered.

You should understand the deep contradictions between libertarianism of any sort and the need to spread wealth, dismantle hierarchy and "convince" the rich to not flee while you super-tax them or even expropriate them. Libertarian socialism is basically "we're not authoritarian with foreigners, minorities and fags, but we sure are with who we consider elites, and it's also not happening but it's a good thing that it does"

I started reading chomsky back in the dubya years and can say that the guy is only good for research stuff like manufacturing consent, because his political views were always retarded, like when he simped for the khmer rouge.
And they have never recovered.

IDK man, videogames are more woke than hollywood now, few of those fuckers are out of a job, even the shitheads from gawker got a new propaganda master to pay them.

To me it looks like all the other journos saw what happened and just copied the model of calling any critics literally hitlers, like these fucks did to gamers.

Nowadays mass media its far more opaque than in 2014, there's no subtlety anymore.

There's no way you could just make "another Twitter." There's been like 10 attempts, all failures. I don't believe Musk's name would be enough to do it. Doing a hostile takeover of the one used as the political establishment's propaganda cudgel was a perfeclty good use of 44 billion as far as I'm conerned, because fuck those people. The fact it may end up being renamed to force even more cognitive dissonance into thse people's tiny brains just makes it even funnier.

Gonna side-track a bit to expand on this: you can never make "another" anything, because the appeal of these sites is their popularity and what unique functions they offer. It's why so many social media sites start poaching each other as soon as one of them adds a feature that people use. Shorts took over YouTube after TikTok got big, Reels became a thing everywhere soon after their initial introduction on Instagram/Snapchat (I can't remember which one, nor if they were called something else, but you get what I mean), etc etc.
Facebook was the progenitor, Twitter had tweets, Tumblr had site customization (or reblogging, if you want to stretch? Worth noting that tumblr is also the closest to being "another" of anything, seeing as it's more similar to myspace than any of the big sites that followed), Snapchat had disappearing messages, Instagram had filters, TikTok had duets, etc etc etc.

You need to do something to stand out if you want to succeed in the social media sphere, even if every other site is going to copy you in a few months anyways. You need to give people a good reason to use your app and promote it like mad. At this point in time, I also think you'd need to come out during a period when faith in the other sites is waning and have an app, but that's just speculation due to the joint monopoly currently in play and not a proven strategy like standing out is.

...I don't know if anyone really needed to hear this/didn't know it already, I just felt it worth reiterating when discussing talk of a "new Twitter". There will never be a successful new Twitter, just temporary bomb shelters like Mastodon at best. When something is going to be new, it's going to be NEW, period. Not "the new ___".

Don't buy $50+ AAA games. You'll be better off.
>paying for any game at all, ever

I haven't bought a game since I first got broadband in 2003, and all my consoles are modded.

It wasn't going to be another twitter but a wechat clone, and that's the point, twitter was only kept afloat as a propaganda machine and now that elon isn't doing that the money is going away. On the other hand wechat which is a do-it-all app with its own miniapp store within the app is making money hand over fist.

I'm laughing at the collective buttobliteration of the left, but its still a dumb move.

It's not a dumb move because:

A. This is about fuck you money. This is like saying JK Rowling going off about troons was bad business, that wasn't the point.
B. What you're describing has a theoretical audience, Twitter has a real captive one that he bought out. It's why a company like Pepsi would just buy Pizza Hut instead of starting its own restauarant. Whether or not it would be a WeChat clone doesn't matter when you're considering the fact that the failure rate of completely new service will be higher than modifying one that already exists and gets massive traffic.
C. Whatever he does with Twitter will get him scores of free marketing from mainstream press crying about it. He won't even have to do massive ad buys.

Of course you could argue that Twitter's monetary value wasn't that high based on the lack of profits it was pulling in. I'd actually argue it was since Twitter wasn't about making money, it was about controlling politics and government policy and this was an open secret that only complete dullards weren't aware of.

That ties into A. This was a political move from someone who was tired of wokescolds having too much power in modern discourse because of a social media monopoly. So he gets that out of it and then gets to actually try to leverage the purchase into something profitable. This was corporate warfare. You launch wars because of reasons more than just whether or not the dollar signs make sense. He was sick of Twitter and literally annexed it.
