We have some good ones, but we also have Owen Jones and his ilk. Far too many of the latter these days. And exactly like their American equivalents (such as Taylor Lorenz), they're all middle class identity politics claiming to speak for the proles.

This all feels too good to be true. They picked the worst journalist, the most uncomfortable chairs, set them at a tense distance apart with a tense conversation... this was bound to happen. Any W embarrassing the MSM is something I support, so I don't care too much, but it does feel like this was set-up in Elon's favor from the get-go.

Looking up the journo he's a literally "who?" with 22k twitter followers, no instagram or social media presence, and only started working for the BBC in 2020 as a North American technology reporter... why would the BBC send this guy to talk to such a high profile guy who's known for his talking skills? Maybe they are just that stupid or maybe it's just another day, another psyop.

In any event, very funny.

I view Musk as I view Trump. Entertainment and an Entertainer, he can be a giant fucking retard, but the seethe he provides by doing something is entertaining. Well no, he’s a tech journalist. Tech journalists repeat verbatim whatever it is they’re told. That’s why you get stories about Jack Dorsey soaking casually in saunas that would literally boil human beings alive and Zuckerberg only eating animals he’s hunted himself printed as if it were fact. A tech journalist will never push back or risk losing access.

I have a hard time seeing "notes" taking off - it feels like a lot of people just associates Substack accounts being for those that write on there and it'll just have the same issue as Mastodon and other clones; it doesn't offer anything new and exciting and there's little temptation for normies to take the plunge and switch platforms.
