Sony hate thread

I was actually doing some literal spring cleaning in my house and I noticed in my mother’s room, that there was an old PSP Go box that probably was laying there for almost two decades. Inside of it, there was no console, since I may have told the parents that I wanted to give it away because my younger self thought it was not cool as the original PSP.

Fast forward to today, I’ve found the box and it still had the USB cables for the console, but no charger. It looks like the same USB cables for the PS VITA.

Either way, I’ll miss the tip top, yet dusty version of my PSP Go box. It was nice nostalgic trip down memory lane. Still kept the USB cables for it, though. You’ll never know what will happen if you had thrown it out, and kept saying “What if?” If anything, maybe I’ll buy a PSP Go just for the heck of it.

Maybe.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened. EA had been working with Nintendo pretty closely regarding the Wii U, till EA tried to force Origin on them. Nintendo told them to cut that crap out, and EA basically took their ball and went home, refusing to support the Wii U at all.
Not surprising, EA has a history of not supporting online infrastructure that aren't theirs. EA did not even support Xbox Live for their titles until 2005. Multiple sources said that EA disliked XBL because they weren't getting a cut from MS's subscription service.

But until Monday, EA's executives had derided Xbox Live, often likening it to a cable TV company that either refused to pay or paid very little to studios that actually make the shows.

EA has long supported online play on the PlayStation 2, but has refused to support Xbox Live, citing concerns with Microsoft's business model. In the past, Microsoft has not paid publishers a bounty for online subscribers that play their games online.

Last September, EA CFO Warren Jensen told a Banc of America conference "we're not about to support a model where the content provider does not get paid for the content provided."

Yet, that didn't stop them from publishing offline titles on the Xbox.

Since this is a Sony hate thread, I remember when EA offered EA Access to PS4 but Sony refused because it "offered no value to PlayStation consumers."

EA dropped Wii U support long before it was clear it would flop, within the first year of its launch, after touting a major partnership with Nintendo. Ubisoft maintained support for far longer, despite no public proclamations of partnership. Trying to use the Wii U's eventual flop status as an excuse makes no more sense than EA trying to say that Frostbite was the reason because the Wii U couldn't support it, only to later reveal that it could be used in tablet and phone development.
Don’t forget Frostbite’s 2014 April Fools announcement, which was that they would start releasing games on Wii U. That’s it. Just a tweet thread essentially saying “We’re gonna start actually supporting the Wii U and treating Nintendo and its fans with respect… JUST KIDDING APRIL FOOLS”. It was so mean-spirited that EA had to issue a public apology on their behalf.

We're making this a "Fuck EA" thread for a bit? I'm game. The way they bought one of my favorite game devs, Pandemic Studios, and shut them down only 2 years afterwards (Although part of that was because of development issues with their Dark Knight game) still pisses me off a bit.

Then they took the Stars Wars Battlefront name from the games Pandemic made, and slapped it on two crappy Star Wars games. Kind of funny Pandemic made better Battlefield clones than the actual Battlefield devs.

I was playing Subanutica on the PS Funf recently until I decided to browse the store front. Holy fuck the layout for what is PS4/PS5, PS5 only, and PS4 only is confusing as fuck. I thought I was going Schizo until I saw 3 versions of Dirt 3 for sale in that layout. How in the fuck do you manage to display the same game for sale 3 TIMES??

Noooo, don't throw out old game boxes.... sell them instead. I suspect there might be some, but not that much, value there since PSPGos are so rare.

Sounds like Sony was forthcoming in digital only consoles even BEFORE MS. I know UMDs were hard to develop for, but digital only with how shoddy PSN is wasn't a good call.

I don't give a shit about star wars, but man, Mercenaries deserved a better fate.
At least Destroy All Humans is getting some love with those great remakes. Mercenaries was fantastic, even if the story of 2 was very silly, at least the gameplay was great. If any of you haven't already, I'd definitely recommend playing The Saboteur. Pretty much Mercenaries but in WW2 Paris.

Full Spectrum Warrior was my shit. I played it so much back then. Fuck EA.
And of course Sony… fuck you, just because.

Unfortunately, the box had too much dust to the point where I feared that my allergies could flare up. Even if I had wanted to save the box, at that time I couldn’t risk destroying the weak lungs I have :(

Just for you, I’ll go check on eBay to see if they’re selling any old PSP Go boxes to see how much has changed over the last 15 years.

Pricecharting says 85 bucks, though it probably has a limited field of results.

I still find it funny how MLB The Show, a franchise made by a PlayStation studio, launches into Gamepass for Xbox, is available for Cloud Gaming, and is $60 instead of $70 on Switch.

I know why it's on other platforms, deals with MLB probably required it to be, that's understandable and all good. But it's so hilarious that Sony is treating everyone better than their PlayStation customers with this series.

Sony's been cucking their own fanbase since 2020 when Horizon Zero Dawn came out on PC.

Really felt like the PS4 generation was the beginning of the end for gaming's integrity. You could tell from games like Killzone Shadow Fall and Infamous Second Son that these entries were only made to show off graphics and give SOMETHING to play on the console and while the latter is alright for what it is, the former really highlighted how shallow the experience was even for veteran fans of the series. And both series kind of came to a healthy conclusion on the PS3 so there was really no point in making more unless they had a damn fine game to justify it and they simply didnt.

These two games perfectly demonstrate the official crossing of the threshold

Even when you buy their games on steam, you still need to log in into Origin so you are pretty much buying the game from the store disguised as a steam purchase.

Not sure which I find more disgusting, that or the fact Steam approved this.
