I am now convinced that the "Made bank for Ramadan" was this store chain getting restocked. If they are selling them for 2.50 KD, the store must be getting them for 1-1.50 KD.

Economic works the same in Kuwait as in the rest of the world. If they are selling them for 2.50 KD, I would be surprised if, after expenses, they receive 1.00 KD as profit. Salah is only 25% of the business, so if they sell 1,000 units per month, he would receive a grand total of 250 KD per month. This would be a nice side hustle, but as a main income, this is pitiful. He relies entirely on Chantal to bring him money.

This leads me to a second point. He rented this rat-infested hovel but she is paying for it. She probably cannot afford anything. However, soon, she will need to renew her visa. She cannot afford anything more than for her to take a quick flight to Bahrain. I guess she will say that he cannot come because the corporate jet is out of service for the weekend.

I was really confused in one of her videos where she was saying gold is cheaper in Kuwait, more karats *points to ring*. I wonder what Salah is telling her. It's slightly more expensive to get 24 Karat gold in Kuwait than Canada. 63 cents cheaper per gram of 24K gold in Canada. If gold was cheap enough for consumers to notice the difference, speculators would just buy all of it. Kuwait isn't El Dorado, I don't even understand how her brain works.

I'm going to say that I think you're being a little generous. Murad is the business owner so he's going to be getting most of the money. I assume that he's the one who has to pay rent and utilities for the warehouse, buy the materials for manufacturing the products, buying the packaging, printing labels, distribution, etc. Salad seems to spend more days going to the beach and eating out than ever going to work. Plus he's staying up until 3 in the morning so he's probably not working. Unless Salad and Murad are making and delivering all their product they have to have employees who are getting paid. After all these expenses I'd expect Salad to only get a fraction of your estimation, probably 100 KD a month or less.

Kind of related, I know Mexicans who brag that buying gold in Mexico is less expensive and it's so much stronger than American gold. Try to explain that it's cheaper and stronger because they're mixing in other alloy metals and they think you're stupid and jealous.

I question the veracity of the super secret Kuwaiti Reddit agent. I would have to research the availability of denatured alcohol in muslim countries to see the restrictions on who can have it and if it takes special licensing to use it in manufacture. I thought the whole point of the "perfume' was to use it in the mosque on your prayer mats and clothing to please Allah? Any alcohol in the ingredients would be haram.

Although Chantal has claimed that Salah and Murad mix up the sprays themselves, adding the essential oils and whatever, I think it’s more likely that they are merely adding their brand onto premade, white-labeled product. While this would subtract from their profit, it is considerably less labor and quality control intensive.

I think you’re right about the five, although the way I computed it was using the Ministry’s helpful data.

(10,000KWD is listed as the capital, and Murad and A’laa both used 9k CAD when referencing the amount Chantal provided. That would be almost exactly $2,000KWD around November 2022, and thus 20%)

The Ministry logs the percentage relative to each owner (not posted publicly) but I am certain that would show the Kuwaiti at 51% and Murad and Salah sharing the 49% (although Murad is listed as managing partner IIRC). Due to a lack of profit, the majority of these Kuwaiti on-paper owners take a flat fee instead of a cut, which I have to imagine would be the wise move with dollar store sprays.
I am eager to see how Chantal handles the downside of wasta . She was bragging about how easy it is when you need something done in Kuwait - as long as you know people you’re set! This is true for the most part but you pay a premium for the favors, if you’ve no employment hookup/social capital yourself to offer in return.
The business is due to renew their paperwork in the next few months, and it’ll be interesting to see Salah and Chantal’s reaction to the expensive payoff payment to the off-the-books partner.
