Not quite true, the Natives might not have known what a horse was because both the Horse and the Camel where both native to the Americas but where hunted to extinction early on by human settlers, same with quite a lot of Fauna they where also responsible for a lot of forest fires driving some mice an vole species to go extinct and also caused a lot of environmental damage at the same time.
