You usually can just do a standard public records request to get a criminal record, though you might have to register your name and pay some fees. FOIA is more about obtaining internal government documents not already available public information. You file a FOIA because they aren't giving you something or you want a massive amount of broad material. A big part of FOIA requests is that they can often tell if it's a subtle threat to sue for access, you don't sue to get something as simple as a criminal record, you just request it.

Dan had to call Portage police station to get the police report. That only became known when judyrecords went online. That same site was used for the divorce records, which were sort of nothing.
