Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Here's the context in all of its ugly glory. But I'll warn you right now--this book is autistic Wattpad slashfic tripe published under the cloak of an official Star Wars banner.

Nothing else published under the Disney regime--be it Aftermath, Last Shot, The Rise of Skywalker novelization, and even all of the High Republic combined--compares to how unyielding awful this is.

Better keep your voice down with that kind of talk. If there's one thing the EU Readerbase hates, it's the notion of non-Force Sensitive combatants fighting on-par or even better than their Sith or Jedi peers.

I mean, fuck, just whisper the words "Mandalorian" or "Karen Traviss" in the right forum, and you'll see more salt erupt than a Dead Sea geyser.
Thanks for the write-up.
holy fucking hell

And really? They liked Sith like Naga Sadow being capable of making a star go supernova with the Force but didn't like some non-force users being able to kill just as well as either of the sects? I thought most people's issues with the Mandalorians under Karen Traviss was wank when they were near their death throes rather than their peak. Liked them as a warrior culture doomed to death as a result of their beliefs over whatever the fuck they're supposed to be now.

I found the exception.

Hell if I know. But, hey, it's the EU Fandom. As I've detailed in my coverage of both Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi, these people will literally bitch about anything.

What can they do at this point? They don't understand Star Wars' core values, all they see is a sci-fi show made with WW2 aesthetics, so they'll go full-throttle with it.

I doubt anyone who hasn't played Galaxies would know who the Novatroopers are. The closest you can get to a Novatrooper with the current Black Series is the Umbra Operative clone figure:

There are a few Empire at war mods that feature novatroopers as a bonus infantry unit, which is the only way I know about them.

SWG on the other hand just sucks and I'm tired of everyone pretending it doesnt. At least from what I experienced on the emulated servers as a first impression. Its like 28 days later: Star wars edition with admins who don't give new players anything to work with, but want to "relive the good ol days" lmao they can fuck off with that LARP. Yes its an old game with a cult following, a small playerbase is a given and times have changed. However, a few dozen players is not enough to sustain a diverse enough economy that such a game requires to get anywhere. Want to buy or craft a set of Mando armor or fly into space in a stolen X wing? Want to learn how to craft Ronto hide jackets? You're SOL because most servers don't have the space sim expansion or anything post-launch and if they do, everyone will play dumb about it and act like they have no idea about any of the episode 3 era clone wars content or kashyyyk being a playable world at one point.

Its a supposedly sandbox mmo that was made for thousands of players to be on at any given time to function properly with its economy and various specializations. Yes there are guides on most server forums but they aren't that helpful. As its too much to ask staff for help when no one on the server specializes in making what you need so you can craft an item, and story? WHAT story? Everyone's off in some discord clique, not even playing the game, expecting you to throw rocks at womp rats for hours on end. Meanwhile they own all the real estate with no intention of allowing players to own any of these empty abandoned houses. IN A "SANDBOX MMO". Fuck throwing rocks at womp rats for a few hours. These discordniggers dont care about any of these games they claim to care about at all. While of course LARPing about how good the in game roleplay was all over youtube. When there are no PVE battles besides throwing rocks at womp rats or fetch quests.

If it was really that good, why didn't they add anything to it in the emulated servers? Like a playable Star Destroyer or MC80a boarding action where you can capture one as Rebels or the Empire? Even EA at least attempted that in EAFront 2.

I don't see anyone bitching about Jango Fett, Atton Rand, or HK-47 killing Jedi. Maybe because unlike Traviss, the KOTOR writers actually had HK-47 and Atton point out logical ways for a muggle to counter Force powers and kill Jedi, while Traviss just whines about how Mandos are better than Jedi while writing the Jedi out of character.

The way HK-47 and Atton Rand describe the Jedi and how you can kill them is in character for the Jedi; they'll leap to defend others, so taking hostages or luring them into traps is a legit strategy to take them down. You can use emotions to blur their ability to read your mind, or set up a scenario where they'd get betrayed, like how Exar Kun killed a shit ton of Jedi not by using shonen-style Sith superpowers, but by corrupting some Jedi Knights and sending them to kill their masters.

As for Jango Fett, they portrayed him as the kind of ubermensch who was chosen by the Sith specifically because he can beat Jedi on the battlefield. To the point where not only did he kill a few Jedi in the Open Seasons comic, but he won a contest where the challenge was to track down and kill some Dark Jedi drug lord, which was how Jango was chosen to be the new clone template for the Sith grand plan.

It's all based on HOW you write your muggle Jedi-killers. KOTOR did it right, Traviss didn't. Hence why the EU readership admires the former over the latter any day. Because KOTOR actually did it right, by looking at the Jedi with an objective lens and coming up with reasonable ways to counter their powers and kill them.

TL;DR
Karen Traviss: "THE JEDI SUCK! ANY DECENT MANDALORIAN CAN WHOOP THE ASS OF THE BATHROBE BRIGADE!"

HK-47/Atton Rand: "A Jedi's powers allow him to do X, Y, and Z, and here's how you counter these powers and beat the Jedi."

Haven't posted here in ages since Rise of Skywalker might as well have been the end all confirmation that nothing good will ever come from anything Star Wars until Total Disney Death, but goddammit, seeing this shit the other day at the liquor store reminded me that this is what Star Wars is now. If you told me a decade ago when I was in college that one day I'd be drinking Star Wars booze, I'd think it was the crazy shit the aliens are drinking in the cantina come to life, not some overpriced IPA with a can covered in pictures of wolves. Can Disney Star Wars ever NOT shoehorn wolves into anything? It's all so tiresome...

Wish that GW would make 25% Fenrisian Ale Light. I love a strong beer.

HK was good because he did think around instead of just being awesome.

"If I see one more idiot attacking a jedi with a blaster pistol, then I'll kill them myself."

Top comment : How to kill a Jedi? Sell them to disnes.

I'd go for some "CHAOS BREW" that was made in the 90s. EXTREME CHAOS FLAVOR IN EVERY SIP!

Flavors include:
Blood-Red Khorne Fruit Punch
Tzeentch Blueberry
Green Apple Nurgle
Slaaneshi Grape

HK was good because he did think around instead of just being awesome.

HK-47 and Kreia foresaw the death of Jango Fett. And the best thing about them is that they describe the flaws of both Jedi and Mandalorians instead of just arbitrarily shitting on one while shilling for the other.

What we need is something a bit...classier.

That's because the game update that came with it was very divisive for older players. I knew nothing of what the pre-Kashyyyk SWG was when I played it. I still had fun with that game. One of my fondest memories was when the Battle of Rori and the Galactic Civil War updates were implemented and you could build bases on a planet to help your faction control it. My base was on Dantooine and I finished inspecting my base after placing the deed down, the game glitches and a tree stump loaded up in the entrance. It was the best security system in the game as no one could conquer my base because the stump prevented anyone from getting inside (including myself). It was funny watching enemy players seethe and flail at the stump. Eventually, someone must have put in a ticket to remove the stump and my base was conquered. It was fun while it lasted.

I never understood this side of gamer gate. Liberals/the people butthurt when people that don't agree with them lie and project. Don't listen to them. I saw this, snorted at how ridiculous it was, and moved on.

Don't put it in the padawan you can corrupt as the Sith warrior. Girl is crayze swayze. And I like crazy.

That's half the appeal. Fictional characters suffering from ol' Lady MacBeth is endlessly amusing.

It's my problem with why RPGs in general aren't worth playing. When all choices boil down to either being a good guy who never does anything unexpected or making a wrong think choice and suffering, what's even the point?

Maybe I played GTA back in the day to be a legit gangbanger shooting bitches and curbstomping granny. Not because I want to IRL but because it's a fun little LARP.

I love normies getting one over on Jedi in the EU

The best part of the ST hands-down was Finn sperging out on Kylo with Anakin's old blue lightsaber in TFA. That nigga shoulda won fuck these Force users thinkin they some shit they ain't shit

That's the choice that I'd usually favor. I mean, as good as Vette is, she's just help. You don't fraternize with the help, it's beneath a Sith to do so. I get a more chummy vibe with her, like she's a baby sister or something, whereas Jaesa is perfect waifu material.

-sexy former handmaid
-goes along with whatever you teach, Light or Dark
-Light side is demure, honest, caring-peak waifu material, the kind of woman you'd want to raise kids with.
-Dark side is crazy in the sack and seeks pleasure, which is fun if you want thrills.

Depends on how it's written. If it's written well, it goes to show how smart both the writer and the character are. If not, then it's adorably insulting, because at that point, getting one over a Jedi is no better than getting one over a common grunt. Which of course, kills the fun out of it. No one would care about getting one over Superman if he's just some dipshit that any idiot can defeat.

Which is why Order 66 is exhilarating in Battlefront II classic. These Jedi can kill you easily, but if you play your cards right and use your brain, you can kill scores of them.

That's half the appeal. Fictional characters suffering from ol' Lady MacBeth is endlessly amusing.

At least games like SWTOR and Skyrim allowed you to be a total asswipe without it being labeled as wrongthink.

KOTOR, it depends, because you can only truly be evil in the last part of the game. You can be a total dickweed for 20+ hours with Dark Side corruption in your face, but if you choose to reject Bastila at the Temple, you'll get the Light Side ending even if you spent the whole game being Darth Murderface the Killjoy. As for KOTOR 2, I don't really think there is much of a difference between the two endings. You wipe out the Sith, Kreia predicts the future, dies, and the only real difference is whether or not Malachor V goes kaput. In the same vein, you can still be a total dickweed but then choose to save the Jedi Masters and help keep Onderon in the Republic.
