You know, that’s a good point. I come into situations with my own perspective, which is that I am willing to believe anyone if there’s evidence presented. And I’m not going to take someone’s word for something or back them if there’s evidence they lied. I just care about the facts.

People like Shane, Jackie, and Patrick dont’ care about that though. I think there’s three primary motivations.

1. Looking like they’ve won publicly against their percieved enemies. That’s why Shane only addresses things that don’t make him look bad, and focuses on grammatical issues or other meaningless bullshit. Also why they’ll overlook/ignore evidence if it doesn’t help them “win”. Also why Shame flees interactions he’s losing.
2. Building e-clout. Shane has no e-clout and will never have it, but wants it. That’s why he’s desperately attaching to this Fatrick drama. Jackie Singh is trying to build a fraudlent “good-vs-evil” case for her followers so she can monetize them on her Patreon - the same thing Keffals did.
3. Political retardation. I actually think this is a big one. Shane, Patrick and Jackie are all leftists who constantly talk about nazis and bigots, and think of themselves as superheroes against evil villains. There is no middle ground, and they think this way because they’re not intelligent enough to see the world as something more complex. Jackie is more political so she might be half doing it hypocritically, especially given her past. But all of them will overlook any horrible trait if someone is on their “side”. That’s why Shane and Fatrick don’t care about pedophiles in SFWA, and Jackie doesn’t care that Fatrick threatened to kill his wife, unborn child, and Pringle Can Jon.

I think understanding these motivations are key to not being confused by people like them.
